I'm at a bar a few nights ago when my phone vibrates. I have a text message from a number that I dont have in my phone book:
"hey wuts up babe?"
Not having a clue who this person is, I send a message back:
"Nothing, whos this?"
A few minutes go by and there's no answer. I just got a new phone, so I'm thinking maybe I'm supposed to have the number and give it a call just in case. After trying to understand what the hell the person on the other end was saying, I realize it was a wrong number and hang up.
Story should be over... but if it was this wouldnt make much of an uberpost, and the title wouldnt make any sense.
A few minutes go by and I get texted again:
"hooz diz?"
*sigh* Now I'm getting annoyed. Slang abbreviations are one thing, but when the slang in question A) has the same number of letters of the word or B) only shares ONE letter with the word that you're trying to abbreviate it doesnt make any sense to use it. Not to mention the fact that I just CALLED YOUR ASS to try to figure this out.
I reply:
"Ryan... you texted me"
They reply:
"Yo sry, i got da wrong numba"
Being ammused/annoyed with the raping of the english language I was being subjected to, I decide to give it a shot myself and finally reply with:
"Dats fine, lern 2 spel werdz betta"
A few minutes go by....
bzzzz... bzzzz... I have another text message:
"R U wite?"
My blood pressure went through the roof. Reply:
"No, eye am meksikan U ignorant peace of shit"
To which I got back a bunch of "yo i'll kil U witey" and "cracka" messages throughout the night.
I dont think I even need to explain why this enrages me and what it says about how thug culture is fucking up the world. Proper grammar is associated with white people... and apparently that's a bad thing.
Yes, I'm white you morons. And the fact that I now have to apologize for my lack of a lack of an education is bullshit. Fuck you MTV.

Text messaging is for morons anyway. Therefore, it stands to reason that said messages will be abominations of the English language, regardless of the sender's skin color.

i make a point of writing all of my text messages in full sentences with all the punctuation. hopefully it will rub off on people, but probably not.

I hate that shit. I lived in 'the big city' for several years and worked some shitty jobs. Being a student I was depended on more than the temp workers who came in. Everytime I'd try to show these inner city negroes how to do something so simple as bread a filet, they'd be like, "yo dog, my mom's taught me dis shit yo. 's easy shit." They, somehow, they'd fuck up like breading chicken is hard. I'd show them how to do it after they failed and I'd get this response, "Yo LaRita, Gemille, check this out. White boy know a little sumthin' 'bout chicken. Now das some funny shit." Yes that's right, white people know nothing about chicken, especially fried chicken. God I hated black people from the city.
