Last weekend, I was down in Ocala with my son for his (second) 4th birthday party. I was a little bit early, and nobody had shown up before me. Because Fun Factory was so busy, and so many people were running around, I decided to step outside and wait for the remaining partygoers to arrive.

As my girlfriend and I step outside, I observe, and then quickly forget about, a woman out at her Jeep loading up some presents for some other kid who isn't mine.

I am reminded at this point that I saw this woman when I first arrived. She was standing by the passenger door of the Jeep, yanking her head away from the vehicle, and screaming, rather loudly, at the driver to "let my fucking hair go." She sounded at the verge of tears, and just as I was considering actually walking over and inserting myself in a situation where it didn't belong, she was released and walked inside like nothing had happened. Weird relationship right there... but whatever, it's none of my business.

Back to her loading up the presents. She walks over to the entrance, which my girlfriend and I are standing near, and somewhat struggles with opening the door. I only caught this in my periphery, and was not actively observing her, it was only subconscious until she opened her fat fucking mouth. As I am engaged in conversation, she looks my way and start spouting off at me. "Way to open the door for me, I really appreciate that, thanks SO MUCH for your help. (looks toward Erica, my girlfriend) Your boyfriend there is a real piece of shit, you know that? Won't even open the door for a lady who needs help."

I'm at a loss for words, and that doesn't happen often. Fuck it, though, I knew she was coming back out. I just had to work up something good to say to this dumb twat.

Then she comes outside again.

"Hey, you dizzy bitch! Do you know that people like you, who vote ignorant presidents into office and force me to pay tax money into welfare because you think the world owes you something, are the reason people like me go crazy and become serial killers? Fuck yourself, cunt."

I was amazed, not by my ability to verbally piss on her face, but by her reaction. She looks at me like she has just realized that she has a sinkful of dishes to do and shouldn't be out and about, frolicking in the sun and enjoying the company of others. She drops her head down in shame and walks back to her Jeep, where she decides to sit and stay until I go back inside.

But I didn't go back inside. The guy she was there with came back outside to gather more things for the party. When he approached the door, I opened it for him, then let it go and walked over to the bench to sit down as she came up behind him. She scowled at me for this, but promptly dropped her head right back down.

This was about the time that my family members arrived. She was inside the whole time we were, but she decided to avoid us the whole time. Wonder why.

I understand your arguement, you felt attacked so you struck back...fair enough.

YOu just came across in the post and then your replies as a non caring individual and I have a certain venom for those without the care or ability to help a fellow man.

I hold no ill will, twas only a post on a website...you made your opinions known as did I and in the future I'm sure we will agree and disagree from time to time.

That you had to come home and write it up on Uber is what puzzles me.

bamf, you and I typically agree on most topics, from what I've seen in the past. It's obvious that we're just seeing this from different sides- I don't really feel like I went off on her, as it was only a couple sentences. As to the last thing you said, she opened her mouth when she shouldn't have. OK, people make mistakes or do asshole things sometimes, I can understand that. I was honest with her in response, though- an honest response that would have been caged, had I not been directly attacked. Verbally, physically, either way I don't think her actions would have made me feel threatened- but I feel justified in what I had to say.

I'm sure everyone has times when they have some pent up emotion, and let it out on the wrong person or in the wrong situation. In this case, all I was really doing is venting a small amount of my frustration on someone who actually deserved it.

If any of you were to see this exact same thing happen in a movie or on television, you'd probably get a kick out of it. Call it a sick pleasure, call it a taste for vigilante justice, but everyone has a little part of them that enjoys seeing people who do wrong get what they deserve. I don't get many opportunities to release my frustration on someone who actually deserves it, and I normally have to bottle it up inside in the real world. This way, she got exactly what she deserved from me, and I was granted catharsis without doing wrong.

I found myself unable to respect this girl anyway. Probably about 40 years old, and either she was with someone who respects her little enough to physically abuse her in public, or she was making a scene to get attention/her way. Either/or, I can't respect that type of person. As I said, and even with my lack of respect for the girl from the beginning, I was ready to intervene on her behalf if the situation seemed like it would need so, which I almost did. I had the best of intentions for this girl who either has no self-respect or a flair for the dramatic at the expense of others, and when she catches me in conversation and not helping her out, she explodes on me. I realize she didn't know what my intentions were, but her assessment couldn't be farther from the truth. I offer someone goodwill (even if they don't realize it) and they give me the proverbial finger for it in exchange? Fine, then, taste my cynicism.

Finally, it's odd that you're totally able to forgive this woman her indiscretion when I had done nothing to her, yet are so quick to berate me for spouting off a little bit of my distaste for her. Where's the sense in that? Be the bigger person? You be the bigger fucking person, I'll be the honest one.

Decency is mandatory?

She spouted off at someone who did nothing but mind his own business. Why are you on her side?

========

I'm on no one's side Williamson, as I don't really believe the exchange took place at least no in this manner.

But I will say this, and maybe I was raised differently than most. But if I see someone, man or woman, attempting to open a door and in need of help...I'll do it.

Now, if I don't see her/him and he/she spouts of at me in such a manner I'll most likely let it slide off my back rather that retort. People have bad days and they often lash out at others, it's not right, but it's going to happen. Its really no beef of mine what he/she says.

Decency is not mandatory but imagine everyone running around thinking that it wasn't needed at all...you've never been helped by someone and felt grateful for it?

Unless she gave you a blowjob before you neglected to open the door for her, she had no right to be pissed.

No, sorry.

My response would have been to laugh, say "My bad, I didn't see you there," and open the fucking door.

She was frustrated and cranky and her mouth ran away with her - doesn't mean she's the goddamned antichrist.

Here's something you don't seem to get: her words can't fucking hurt you. They take nothing away from you. They cost you nothing. Wanting to "pay her back" for saying harmless words makes you look weak and uncertain.

Nevermind, make it a -2 all the way because I call bullshit on what she said, on what you said back, on the whole fucking story.

Well, way to be wrong twice. I was wrong for not being consciously aware that she needed help, and thus not helping her? Either way, even if I were to have realized what was actually happening, I don't owe her SHIT. She can disagreed with it, but she had no right to say anything to me for not doing her a fucking favor, and my response was justified, thanks to her "do for me" Americanized attitude.

by stereotypes I'll assume you mean her labeling you as an asshole

and by ridiculous expectations you mean her assuming you should help with the door which again refers back to your stereotype.

it's only a -1 because of her reaction to you not opening the door, she was a bit out of line.

The overall negative is because you ARE and asshole and she was RIGHT.

Why wouldn't you help? YOu are part of why society is so fucking 'fuck your buddy', 'sue for everything.'

Woo! ...

ANTICLIMATIC

It all happened at the beginning of that turbulent decade known as the
eighties. Those were idealistic days: the candidacy of John Anderson,
the rise of Supertramp. It was an exciting time to be young.
