The excerpt below is from and interview Connie Mack (Bush's point man on tax reform)
gave to the New York Times.
NYT: Well, the U.S. government has to get money from somewhere. As a two-term former Republican senator from Florida, where do you suggest we get money from?
Mack: What money?
The money to run this country.
Mack: We'll borrow it.
NYT: I never understand where all this money comes from.
Mack: When the president says we need another $200 billion for Katrina repairs, does he just go and borrow it from the Saudis? In a sense, we do. Maybe the Chinese.
NYT: Is that fair to our children? If we keep borrowing at this level, won't the Arabs or the Chinese eventually own this country?
Mack: I am not worried about that. We are a huge country producing enormous assets day in and day out. We have great strength, and we have always adjusted to difficulties that faced us, and we will continue to do so.
Holy shit. I hope you young people are taking classes in Chinese.

Amazing how problems that have existed in the US since the 60's were all caused by GW Bush. Undoubtedly, the most powerful and influential man who has ever lived. Shit, the most influential embryo. Hell, the man did more harm as a sperm/egg than the collective population of the planet has done over the last 5 millenniums.
Grow-up or Shut-up.

I'm sorry I have to agree with this. Do you realize we can make up $200 billion dollars in like...a day? I am so sick of people saying "HOLY FUCK THE SKY IS FALLING! GOD DAMN BUSH! GOD DAMN REPUBLICANS!!!!" Okay I am not a republican, I actually am moderate leaning liberal. But my party is the ANTI-BULL SHIT Party. And a lot of bull shit is being thrown around now that I refuse to back up. Look at the facts rationally before you make decisions.

Incomplete information
Ignorant viewpoint
And I truly doubt the veracity of this interview.
I, too, think the debt is out of control, but it began way before Bush and will continue long after he's gone. You're pointing the finger at the wrong guy.
Plus, you're an altar.

Um, yeah, judoka, the NY Times DOES in fact make up stories.
Do a google on Jayson Blair, or Patricia Smith of the NY Time's sister paper, the Boston Globe.

I'm an 'altar'? I guess thats why people genuflect when I walk by.
So you think that the New York Times is completely fabricating stories? OK, but dont forget to wear your helmet when you go outside.

It's a sinking ship. The Upper Class will be the only ones afforded a lifeboat. The rats will drown. We, the people, are the rats. It's what happens when we let the individual hold more power than the collective and defend the minority over the majority.
Collective gain is not the aim. In theory it's gain for the free private enterpriser. In practice it's gain for the upper class.
Plutocracy at it's finest. We're all fucked.

If you spent 400 billion dollars a years on things that kill people you wouldn't pay your bills either.
It's amazing how good war is for a country's economy.

Something about this user has always bothered me. I finally realized it was (possibly) a hell of a coincidence.
Consider this, taken from one of domenad's posts (http://www.ubersite.com/m/61749).
"Submit a pic to me at judoka1978.at.hotmail.com"
So, your political polar opposite happens to use your usename in his email? Hm. It's probably nothing.

Aside from both being practitioners of judo, it is merely a coincidence.

Im a European Federalist. So im meant to hate america, but i cant for the life of me, every time i hear of america failing in some sense, I see china and india taking over the world...
Maybe thats racist and stupid. But im 18 so i dont care, my views will change next year again (as they have every other year):P
p.s was this bushs fault or just the american peoples for buying so much from china? Not a pointed question but a real one.

I'd like a link to this particular interview, if possible.
And if you think you're blowing the lid off of anything by pointing out that republicans aren't fiscally responsible, you're not. 600 billion for prescription drug coverage, anyone?
---------
Goddamn, this guy is retarded.

No solid grounds whatsoever! We do have a debt to other countries. However, the debts of other nations are far greater to us than the U.S. to them. Not just one nation has a greater debt, but the internatinal community (excluding U.S.) as a whole owes the U.S. more.
Here is a site for our debt clock... FYI... http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/
Here is pretty much all you've ever wanted to konw on the U.S. National Deficit... http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/faq.html

This is just plain funny.
I think I know where bush is going with this, and it's genious (sic, er, bushism...)
We borrow all the money from the world, waiting until they own everything, then we invade the countries that own the things we want (oil, nuclear materials, fresh water, whatever) one by one until we have everything and make other people pay for it.
I'm excited just thingking about it :)

To people with little knowledge of economics the amount governments borrow almost every year often seems stupidly huge. There may be ground for these fears in the US though, a country on the way down should really be tightening its belt.
You may be interested ina statistc I heard somewhere.
