What the press DID NOT report:
Rosa's actual interaction with the bus driver.
On Thursday evening December 1, 1955, after a long day of work as a seamstress for a Montgomery, Alabama, department store, Rosa Parks boards a city bus to go home.
The driver demands that Rosa vacate her middle seat for oncoming whites and move to the back of the bus.
When she refuses, the driver pulls the bus over and they exchange words.
Bus Driver: Lady, you goan' haveta move now.
Rosa: I'm tired. Tired from my day, tired of this bullllshit.
Bus Driver: What did you-
Rosa: You get your pasty white ass back in that seat and drive, BOY!
Bus Driver: Now lookee here, niggah. Ah ain't gonna be spoken to-
Rosa: You look like you didn't get enough suckling at your momma's tit. Is that why you're so irate?
Bus Driver: Why you old black bitch I oughta-
