The following directory is a tribute compilation of the sound and musical contributions of your fellow uber users. Most are links to musical compositions and some are spoken word, or humorous audio files. There are many more musicans on uber than what's represented here, and I'm sure many of those musicians that are listed here have other things of which I am not aware. It is my hope that everyone finds something here they can appreciate and that people will continue to post their ideas in the medium of sound.
For those of you I might have missed, I apologize. If you'll post your link(s) here, I'll be sure to include you in any future musical directory updates.
If any links are broken, please let me know.
Thanks,
ETS

also is there a way to make Windows Media Player play the whole list straight through without having to click each song? I will download them later and i can do it once they're in my playlist but am not home. Just wondered.

There is a way to do it, but I don't know how. Can anyone help him out on this?

Recorded at an Eight Track studio called Sandcastle Productions, I think.
I think the joint burned down in 1985.
It should burned down BEFORE we recorded there.
Nowadays, you young whippersnappers can record better stuff on your fucking Dells.
I just listened to the lower "Tell Me" - cover of an old Stones song...and it kind of rocks.

I went through my "mid-life crisis" 12 years ago when I bought my first Porsche.
Now I'm in a late life crisis.
Cliches songs that don't sound like they were recorded in a toilet.
Riverview Restaurant (studio)
Be There or Be Square
She Intimidates Me
Always in My Dream
Television Addict (studio) (These next two sound like they were recoded NEXT to the toilet)
Disposable Music (studio)
96 Tears
Big Shot (the lower one)
Sympathy/She don't Listen to Daddy (the lower one)
that's enough of this shit.

Death_Metal_Dude: I think you might like Morontian's stuff - particularly 'Quasar'. I actually wrote the Gregorian Chant intro in that one and did some of the vocals, but the rest is just him playing an instrumental. It's got kinda a Master of Puppets vibe to it.

Tell Captain Thorns to listen to "Riverview Restaurant" and tell me if THAT sounds like it was recorded in a garage.
Most of the shit on their was actually recorded live in bars and clubs.
They didn't even HAVE fucking computers and CD's when The Cliches were out playing around.

The Cliches win.
You'd think after 25 years of technology, stealing of classic guitar riffs, etc., that someone could top us.
But alas, they still kick ass.

Wow, thankyou for the link. That was really good of you. I've been trying to sort out some proper studio time all day but the studio is fucking me around. Me and the drummer are going to use the space at the pub to get some drum tracks down on Monday hopefully and then record the rest at home, so there will be some stuff soon.

Ok, I found another user with music. I just stumbled across this one. Question: Does anyone know who that one English guy was who posted his band's death metal stuff a while back? I know it exists because I rated it, but I'm having trouble locating it.
Poorbusker, aka Patrick Merritt (ACOUSTIC EASY LISTENING/INSTRUMENTAL):

Cap'n: Yea, I really dig a lot of Shlongy's stuff...even if he IS an asshole. (Just kidding, Shlongy; you know I love ya!) I can definitely see them in that place and time in the early 80's American punk/new wave scene. Their stuff is a cool little time capsule in that way.
-----
Another thing for anyone trying to download jack11058 or Drone_of Industry's stuff, a lot of them are in zip files, which means you'll have to have either Winzip or Winrar installed on your pc to unzip the file.
If you don't have either of these programs, or don't know how this is done, follow these instructions:
1: Download and install Winrar: http://www.download.com/WinRAR/3000-2250_4-10007677.html
2: Download zip file from this page.
3: Navigate to file.
4: Right click on file.
5: Select 'Extract here' (MP3 will appear in same folder with original zip file.)

Apollo: And you're waiting for.....?
FA: I'm quite partial to 'Arrr...let us set sail for Greenland'
Jack: I'd classify your music as folk, yes. I consider the singer/songwriters of the 60s and 70s mostly folk as well. 'Folk' in its broad definition is the music of the common people. Your subject matter and your instrumentation, in my opinion, fall within that definition for the most part. I might close in a little more and call it 'Contemporary American Folk'. No? What would you call it?
Someone listen to jack11058's music and tell me what you'd classify it as.

No, 'we', if you can call it 'we' really, as it's just me these days, don't play live, nor do 'we' have a manager and all that. Most of the recordings of my stuff are just me playing all the instruments, with the exception of the heavier stuff at the top of my list and some of the Nirvana songs.
I've just never gotten off my ass long enough to do anything with it in an outward sense. Mostly I just record music to get what's inside my head out in some form that won't just be erased when I fall to sleep.

Forensic girl: Go to Mr. Wolf's site. That's about the closest uber has to psychobilly...besides John Bellows (Drone_of_Industry) maybe. He has some things that would be classified as that too, I think. He's probably the most ecclectic musician I've seen on this site - no offense to anyone else. So you might check his stuff out too. I suggest downloading his new stuff. He's got links where you can download his entire albums in zip files. Get his bottom one first and check that out to see if you like it.

The guy that produced that record also wrote a book on home studios that I happen to own, and he said that if you listen closely to that song you will notice that the snare drum doesn't have reverb on one side. ;)
Phallic: I know there's more than this too. I've been keeping a mental tab on a lot of the music that flys around here, but as Caul pointed out with his little ditty, I am apt to miss some here and there. The thing is, I KNOW there are people on this site just sitting on their music like it's a fine wine or something instead of posting it for people to enjoy. If nothing else, I just want to encourage them to post their music and not be afraid of some sort of negative backlash. Are all people going to like everything you do? holy fuck. wow. this is going to take a while.
I listened to your stuff right away, ETS. I gotta say, I really dig the Upward I Stumble stuff. I had no idea you were such a good songwriter. But the reverb is killing me. I'd love to hear the album as recorded clean and raw. Maybe even with a little table his and the sound of a rocking chair and some foot tapping.
Ever listen to Emiliana Torrini? Like that-ish.
---------------------------
Yea, I agree with you on the reverb thing...especially on some of my older stuff. That's when I was first learning to record, so the quality isn't great. I'd really like to redo a lot of that stuff at some point, or at least remix it. Until recently, I had this thing about pushing my vocals WAY back in the mix too, and a lot of people would complain about that. Couple that with the tendency to put all this lush reverb on things and melt them together, and you can't understand a fucking word I'm saying half the time. The acoustic album at the end of my list is pretty raw though. There are two originals in with those - 'Bell Hat' and 'The Saddest Noise'.
I have some Emiliana Torrini on iTunes. In fact, I'd just listened to a song of hers when I read your review. :D
