It seems that here in the States, people have lost their infatuation with the good old fashioned gameshow. Ever since the phrase "reality TV" was coined and Regis stopped working on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire (you know the main reason you watched was ol' Regis had the process of making people inwardly flip out in the space of his pre-answer pause down to a science...nobody does it like Regis Philbin, people), it can't be popular interactive TV unless it involves voting somebody off and topless women who are totally straight but will get naked and sleep in the same bed for some whacky dare or another. Of course, America still totally loves Jeopardy...it's like a damned tradition. We'll always love you, Alex Trebek.
My friends, I intend to pour life into this stagnant area of network television entertainment (I'd say after considering the many offers that I will get for this "awesome as a stack of flapjacks on a Saturday morning"-caliber idea, NBC will get it...lord knows they need a good program). A gameshow that couples our inner sadist with our desire to watch the unsuspecting and ignorant suffer. The name of this show, you ask?
"Google it, Stupid!"
In this age full of internets, it would seem logical that people would be gaining greater skill in gathering unknown information, as nine times out of ten it is only a click or two away with the use of the all-powerful Google. The opposite, however, seems to be happening. Even the simplest short or lyric snippet, guitar tab or famous quote, seems to be out of reach of today's Average Joe/Jane (even younger kids...I swear, they're supposed to be better than I am). Working with this information, I came up with my wonderful idea.
The premise is simple: A range of contestants is gathered (from a range of backgrounds...a test is held beforehand to confirm their lack of computer savvy), set them in front of a computer and start them off with the same task. This task should be relatively simple...say, give them a zip file and ask them to extract the image from inside of it (using Google to search the extension and see what they'll need to do it if they catch on quick). Contestants will be rated on a simple pass-fail basis after five minutes...got the image? Great! Haven't gotten it?! Oh-ho-ho.
So now the fun begins. Contestants will no longer be given the same task, instead, the people who passed will be given tasks of increasingly difficult level while those laggers-behind will be given simpler tasks involving sites and images with benign meta tags or names and horrible content. "Fluffy kittens" turns up everybody's favorite Mr. Goatse, perhaps?
What do you think, Uber?

I think it's a bland and dissapointing idea.

My original idea for this post was "Fetish Jeopardy" and it somehow turned into this. Maybe that would have been better.

The final round could involve a contestant having to be incredibly specific with his or her keyword(s) before attempting an Image Search by hitting the "I'm feeling lucky!" button. If they find the selected image in one shot, they win.
But...who knows. One wrong keystroke, or word, could lead to a picture of Tubgirl, or Carmen Electra's bare snatch, or black and white photographs of Holocaust victims.
