In lust I kill, in love, I murder...
Felt the soothing twitch of thought gone awry... Noticed the jutting metal glistening with passion in my palm, and it all becomes clearer. This is real.
First instinct is to lean into disbelief, or relief, or a newfound sense of freedom. Fuck.
Waves of realization start to pour over my mind. 'Bleed and suffer then, find freedom' I sing to soothe myself as my shock wears away and I begin to feel a sense of accomplishment.
I should call the police. That is what you're supposed to do. Bastard. Still shaking... funny thing, that shaking, it's new. The adrenaline had flowed smoothly enough to steady my hand.
Read about it in your newspapers; listen to it on your radio.
You can only take so much. You can only heal so many wounds. You can only cry, scream or suffer until the breaking point- then you take action. Action in this case allows for a bit of a mess afterward... but satisfaction nonetheless.

This is a common problem I have with my inmates: lack of ability to delay gratification.
