it all started in the kitchen of a concession stand at the amphitheater. the first look, the first nervous words ... thats how it began and it developed into so much more. then came college and they tried the long distance thing. it worked, they were in love, happy, never even really fought. there were some tough times along the way, adjusting to college, junior year, being apart. it was all there. next came the engagement, a little early since they still had a year left of school, but it seemed right. they were in love, but what is love really. its just a word when it comes down to it. it doesnt mean anything without actions and thats what they were missing. the actions that defined love, occurred less and less, but he still tried to make things work.
then came the day that she said she needed some time to figure out what she wanted in life, completely out of the blue. he didnt know where it came from, or why the indecision all of the sudden, but he tried to understand it all and do the right thing. he was patient, but patience only gets you so far. in the end she was cheating on him and wanted the other guy instead. short and simple.
its weird, you think you have everything all figured out, but you never really do. doesnt matter how much you plan for something, something else always comes up. you can only do your best and when the day's over look back and know you gave it your all. i poured everything i had into that relationship, the long nights, being there when it mattered most, coming up with little surprises. it was all there, but in the end it doesnt matter. you can't force love
now the only thing is what to do with the future. there's so many paths to take and for the first time in a long time, i dont know where the hell they'll end up. but thats life isnt it, it should be an adventure, a journey where you just do what you can and leave it at that.
