Very sweet and honest story... If the true and honest story is that you broke things off with him because of his lack of support when you needed him most, be sure he isn't that same person he once was at the time you separated from him. Life will bring more struggles and painful situations in which you will need the support and comfort that was once before not offered to you by "him".

I think in your haste to finish the opening paragraph you overlooked the actual story.
