The air in the car smelled like sewage. The young woman behind the wheel was almost out of New Jersey and decided to light, yet another, cigarette.
She'd just finished her last training session with a group of recently hired project managers and was driving back to her apartment in Connecticut. She'd been traveling on and off for the past couple of months and was glad it was finally over with. She'd left that morning at about 4:30 and was exhausted. With her car stereo stolen she had nothing to listen to but the sound of traffic. It was moving slowly but steadily. The act of smoking cigarettes was keeping her awake so she continued to inhale the toxins despite the pain in her throat.
Reflecting on how she did during her training the young woman finally approached the Hutchinson Parkway heading north. "I can't wait to get out of these nylons and into my bed", thought the young woman as she contemplated lighting up a cigarette. Her eyes were feeling heavy again, as they had that morning.
Drivers will be assholes and assholes will be drivers. Everyone has somewhere to be. The young woman sat behind the wheel foregoing that next cigarette, waiting to get on Interstate 684 with the patience of a saint. After all, the traffic was moving at least 40 mph. She was famous for telling her friends "it could be worse".
She rested her head back and her eyelids did a small dance and finally met the way a leaf flutters to meet the ground. Sweet serenity.
The car moved with the same grace as the closing of her tired, brown eyes. It swayed slowly to the right; however, the semi in the right hand land wanted no part of this dance. How rude of the tiny Toyota to cut in like that.
The sound of the giant tractor trailer horn blasted the young woman out of her peaceful state but it was much too late. The little blue Corolla collapsed like an aluminum can on a frat boys forehead. The young woman's head hit and broke the window of her door first then whipped to her steering wheel breaking her nose and check bone. Ah, to have airbags. The truck had no time to stop and quickly smashed the intruding car into the vehicle previously in front of it. This was the impact that no one wanted to witness.
The young woman was now wide awake. More awake than she'd ever been in her life. If for only three and half minutes.

WHF? I don't have any pet friends. I do have pets though. Two turtles, a dong..i mean dog, cat, parrot...but nowhere do I have a rayray.

Ok I see what you were aiming for here and it wasn't a bad effort. I did like the ending and the story as a whole but the 2nd paragraph was a little 'clunky' for me it almost seamed like a list rather than a narritive intenede to pull me in.
She did this, she did that, she did this. Do you see what I mean?
