Really? That is the hip label that the informed liberal "you just don't get it " crowd of liberals call conservatives in America.
Neo--Meaning one would guess ..New
Con--Short for Conservatives
However, most of my conservative friends have been around, and politically aware since the Carter administration, when Democrats lost their balls (or, became more European) and became appeasers of the enemies of our nation.
Jimmy's failure to bring the full strength of our country's might against the emerging radical Islamic factions is the Middle East (that held Americans hostage on distant soil), started the ball rolling down that slippery slope that emboldened the terrorists we now fight. Appalled by this, many Democrats rethought our positions, moved to the right, and became Republicans. So lets see that's 1979.
Maybe the label happy liberals are talking about describes the mass exodus of their party after 9/11?
You always hear that a liberal is just a Conservative who has not been mugged yet.
However I haven't gotten to the root yet--
A great deal of the Neo-libs were awakened after the 2000 election was stolen! ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN all closed ranks and called foul. They had become complacent in their reporting as stories were handed out for mass consumption by the Clinton White House. (I guess they would have to go back to being reporters and stop being parrots, huh?)
Hollywood was outraged because their full access to the Lincoln bedroom was nipped in the bud.
So this brings us to present day media-biased networks long for the glory days. And with the flagship Radio Network Air America, the term Neo-Con was given to the masses, and used like a new swear word by the enemies of the Republican Party, to make us look small.
