I know I'm 10 years off the mark, but in retrospect I believe both 10,00 Maniacs and Natalie Merchant would've been wise to just stay together as a group.
She had one or two decent albums and the band hired a singer with a fraction of her talent and put out some genuine crap.

A random thought: You posted this because you are a bored and lonely adolescent, crying for the attention that daddy never gave you.
