You Americans are teh funny. You question the execution of a murderer, yet you all justify a war ("we didn't know he didn't have WMD's...oopsy! tee hee!) that has killed thousands of innocents. You make a huge deal over non-issues like the "War on Christmas" when you have way more alarming issues (hello New Orleans!). Or your so called higher Christian moral standards (ex: Sex is bad but torture is A-Ok. WTF?) I could go on and on...

I have serious problems with these statements right here. Honestly, I do. Now, I know that all Canadians are Eskimo's, and that they hunt caribou to put dinner on the table at night. I also know there is no electricity and that there is no running water, and I know for a fact that they haven't discovered the wheel yet, and that they still wear the skins of their hunted animals as clothing. In addition, they haven't quite figured out how to ride horses yet, and so have been stuck riding all the wolves that populate the country. This, in turn, has caused them all to evolve to the point where the average Canadian is only 1 foot tall so he doesn't skin his knees when he rides said wolves.

The thing is, I would still expect them to be able to think for themselves and NOT just go along with what they hear on the news.

I, for one, NEVER justified a war against Iraq. Not once have I ever said "I agree with the war on Iraq." In fact, quite the opposite. I have said "I do NOT agree with the war on Iraq." I have also never declared war on Christmas. Personally, I think Christmas is a nice time of year, because the lights are fairly pretty if people don't go all apeshit with glowing Santa's and what not. I, however, do NOT like Christmas songs, so maybe that's where you got the idea of us declaring war on Christmas. In addition, I also do not like the Salvation Army volunteers who stand outside Wal-mart and say things like "Remember the unfortunate during the christmas season!" That happened to me tonight as I was walking out of Wal-mart, and I thought to myself: "I'm 26 years old, kind of overweight, I'm a poor college student, I drive a shitty car, I have an illegitimate son, I live with my parents, and worst of all, I'm single. I just came out of Wal-mart with a bag containing a pair of jeans, a jacket, and some K-Y to help stop any friction burns I might try to give myself within the next few weeks. The jeans and jacket are to replace the one's I bought at salvo not to long ago. I don't think it gets much more unfortunate then me."

And then I thought: "Now I made myself sad." and put money in their stupid little red bucket to make myself feel better. That's how they get you, with the guilt and all. But I digress......

Seriously: do you think this way? Do you honestly believe that all Americans supported the war in Iraq? I can think of a few million (at least) who didn't. Let's start with all the green peace hippies, who always urge us to hug a tree and stop killing animals and such. Then we can move on to all the pot heads, who (and I kind of agree with them) think that the world just needs a good toke, and everything will be a-ok. We can then move on to the regular hippies, which are a combination of the above two.

Seriously though: You honestly believe that all Americans WANTED this war? You think we WANTED a government like this? You can say "56 million people voted for bush." but then I'll just say "55 million didn't."

The war on Christmas... I'll give ya that. It's stupid. Extremely, entirely stupid. Problem is that we have this little rule about separation of church and state that the Christians keep forgetting about. Guess what? Instead of saying "You know what: there SHOULDN'T be a "in god we trust" on our money, we SHOULDN'T have memorials with the 10 commandments on them outside government buildings, and we SHOULDN'T call it "Christmas Break", they go off and say that now the non-christians are afraid of their right to worship. They are trying to fight the rules of one amendment with the rules of another.
I for one want everyone to shut the fuck up. I honestly do. I'm tired of hearing about it from all angles.

The underlying problem here is that other countries (i.e. Canada) enjoy this. They enjoy probing deep into America's problems, then pointing and laughing. Seriously? Grow up, other countries. Stop making fun of those less fortunate then you.

I understand that American policy has effects in other countries. But instead of complaining about it, or laughing about it, why not pray to whatever you pray to that the republicans won't get into the house again. It's gotten to the point where there is no longer a feeling of "what is best for the nation", there is a feeling of "what is best for the party." People are getting kicked out of churches because of how they voted. The Christians are wielding their faith like it's a board with a nail in it, and there isn't a whole lot we can do about it because The Religions... I mean the republicans are in charge.

I remember listening to a recorded JFK debate, where he had to assure the people that even though he was a catholic, that he wouldn't allow that to sway him in decisions. Now-a-days, it is almost a necessity that our president has extreme religious ties, due to the Republican Party aligning themselves with Christians. Kerry, who supported a woman's right to choose, tried to go that path with abortion. He said something along the lines of "Even though I am a catholic, I don't see how it is right for my religion to force a woman's hand in decisions of this nature."
Bush said (something along these lines) "Abortion is murder; it says so in the bible."

Look who won. So much for seperation of church and state.

Now with these newest allegations, such as torture, the military paying for pro-American stories to be published in the Iraqi news, douchebags giving out CIA operative information, and things like this, I honestly feel like the sway is turning against bush. Politicians are starting to take blame for the things they have done, such as supporting the war on Iraq. I feel Americans as a whole are starting to see this presidency for what it is: a group of retards being led by the winner of the 50 yard dash at the Special Olympics. Yeah, our president might have won the race, BUT HE'S STILL A FUCKING RETARD.

But blaming an entire nation, when VERY clearly it isn't' the entire nations fault, is kind of asinine. Stop blaming "all" Americans for the choices and actions of "some" Americans. By doing so, you're only proving what an un-educated and closed minded person you are.

And BTW, if anyone wants to question me about my facts about Canada, I had a bad experience with a few Canadians once, so anything I say about them is purely out of spite and has no basis in reality.

Even though one of my best friends is a Canadian who is currently studying in the U.S.

Maybe YOU would be fine with it, but do you think that the majority of servicemen would? I haven't met a single person in the army or Marines who would be fine with it (I have met some in the Navy, but most hate it).

And as far as the voting thing goes you are dead wrong. Yes some minorities vote democratic more (Blacks, and I am not sure on hispanics, but not asians), and yes there is a disporportional amount of minorities that are in the military, but it doesn't change the fact that servicemen vote much more republican then the rest of the nation.

Maybe your dad takes Rush word as fact because you only dispute him on stuff he is right about. I don't like rush, but it doesn't mean he is wrong about everything.

_____
Yeah... and your encounters with 2, 3, I'll even give you 50 soldiers compares to mine of 500 or so....

So the military is made up mostly of minorites, and minorities vote mostly democratic, but the military goes republican? How does that work?

Hispanics do vote mostly democratic. As do asians. At least, all the asians I know do. Considering that my baby's mother is asian, and her family is asian, all her friends are asian, etc. etc. etc.

He said "Well that's a lie. YOu would freak out about it, just like all our military men are doing right now. You just haven't been in that situation."

I just stared at him. I had spent four years in the army less then 2 years ago, and here he is telling me what military men are doing.

He's also said that the american military votes primarily republican, even though the american military is primarily full of minorities and minorities generally vote democrat......

My father is the key of this. He defends Rush as if he were Jesus, but anytime you can proove him wrong all of a sudden you are a liar, not him. He just ignores the truth and instead decideds to listen to the pre-rendederd opinons given to him over wham 1180.

I know how you feel. I have many friends or family like that. It's hard to have a decent debate nowadays. If we can't even have a reasonable conversation at home, how can we even dream of having good politicians?

We're not only physically lazy, we are intellectually too. And we're all guilty. That, I think, is the biggest issue on this continent.

It honestly did help me understand where you're coming from court. And I fully agree with you on the taking responsibility. My country is full of douchebags on both sides, and I'm guilty of it too. I passed the buck, and I shouldn't have. I can understand where your coming from fully now.

"We're in era where people are so fucking weak that they only want to hear about positive aspects of their nation. In a time where they'd rather argue over stupid fucking non-issues like the War on Christmas and whatnot to divert their short span attention. Not even argue, they wait for the media to spoon feed them pre-digested opinions so all they have to do is root for whatever side looks the coolest. Then they hit the dinner table, thinking they're self-aware citizens, exempted of any criticism and they regurgitate what they heard on the godamn TV."

This paragraph hit home especially hard, as it basically describe my fathers actions to a T. He gets all his "facts" from Rush, (the douchebag, not the band), then restates them to me as if they were his own. He does it all the time. The worst part about it is he doesn't even think about the B.S. that is spewing out of his mouth. I can remember the exact moment that I figured out this is what he did.
He said to me "How would you feel if you were in the military in the shower and the guy next to you could be gay?!?!?" To which I replied "I'm fairly certain I would be 100% OK with it."

He said "Well that's a lie. YOu would freak out about it, just like all our military men are doing right now. You just haven't been in that situation."

"Like it or not, that little "I'm different, I didn't support X and Y and Z and I never voted for him and yadda yadda yadda" line doesn't work anymore.""

FartSmeller hits the nail on the head.

This goes for Canadians too. You think I'm obsessed with Americans? No. This website just happens to be filled with them. I am just as criticial with Canada and I frequently argue with my own french-canadian seperatist buddies, something that is far from simple believe me.

I'm tired of hearing people shying away from problems like they're suddenly not citizens anymore. But when it's time to take credit for retarded stuff, you best believe they suddenly become Canadian/American/wherever they come from. For instance, how many american or canadian or some other 18 years old keyboard Rambo have you heard claim respect for wars that happened when they weren't even born?

We're in era where people are so fucking weak that they only want to hear about positive aspects of their nation. In a time where they'd rather argue over stupid fucking non-issues like the War on Christmas and whatnot to divert their short span attention. It's fucking pathetic to see. America has done pretty good stuff we could learn from, yet whenever I explain that to a canadian or a frenchman, he sneers in disgust like I just bashed his mom's meatloaf. Fuck that. I get the same reaction when I come here with Americans.

So why am I so belligerent? Because I get zero satisfaction from a conversation in which peope tap each others backs, self-congratulate each others until their chests explode with pride.

It's time we let off of our egos and acknowledge our flaws. It's not a deadly exercise.

As you noticed I haven't slammed your country, so chances are that this long bitter nonesense is closer my actual opinion and might help you see where I'm coming from.

Gallup-USA today poll states that 58% of Americans say that bush does not have a victory plan in Iraq: Poll also indicates that a small majority (53%) say that Bush's plans in the middle east have nothing to do with national security or with protection of innocents, but has to do more with protection of isreal and prices of oil.

The polls' error margin is +/- 2%, I beleave (only saw that for a split second)

I don't hear you complaining about too many fucking WHITE guys running the show, only Christians, right? Well let me tell you something you may not have known: Our country was founded by good men that used their faith as moral guidelines to do the right thing. Sorry, Fartsmeller. In the 1800s they took that off and replaced it with E Pluribus Unum, though not mandated by law. Then, during the "Red Scare" in the 50's, it was put back on.

For the record: I'm a moderately conservative American, served 6 years in the Navy, not religious. Now let me tell you why I hated this post:

First of all, if you wanted to review Caul's statements, then use the RATE button. But that's not really that important in light of the glaring ridiculity of some of your statements. Let's review.

"Grow up, other countries. Stop making fun of those less fortunate then you."

Holy shit. There is no single person in our country that can honestly say that and mean it. Unless of course you are the ONLY person here that's never talked shit about illegal immigrants, the French, the stupid Polish, etc. Or, like you stupidly said in the same post: "I have serious problems with these statements right here. Honestly, I do. Now, I know that all Canadians are Eskimo's, and that they hunt caribou to put dinner on the table at night.". I don't care if you were joking, you shit any point you may have had right down the drain. And that little disclaimer at the end is too little too late.

"Now-a-days, it is almost a necessity that our president has extreme religious ties, due to the Republican Party aligning themselves with Christians."

It's a known fact that some of the informal requirements for becoming President are being white, older male, Protestant, wealthy. I don't hear you complaining about too many fucking WHITE guys running the show, only Christians, right? Well let me tell you something you may not have known: Our country was founded by good men that used their faith as moral guidelines to do the right thing. It says In God We Trust on our money, and I'm sure you have no problem spending that, do you?

And you shouldn't; I'm not religious, but I'm not so stupid I don't realize that America has a lot of religious bases that shouldn't be ignored or slighted. Yes, many bad things have been done in the name of religion, but many more bad things have been done for no reason whatsoever, so we can all just drop that line of comments.

"Bush said (something along these lines) "Abortion is murder; it says so in the bible." Look who won. So much for seperation of church and state."

Not to get technical, but I'm going to refer you the case of Roe v. Wade. Basically, it says that abortion is legal because outlawing it is a breach of the right to privacy. Just so you know, there are a bunch of CHECKS AND BALANCES worked into our government to prevent the moral or religious beliefs of, say, the President, from affecting all of us. So, yeah, that's separation of church and state and it works just fine.

You know why Caul's comments upset you? For the same reason they upset me. Because we all know they're true but that we can't do shit about it. We know that it's ridiculous to question the execution of Tookie, we know that the "war on Christmas" is a non-issue being blown way out of proportion.

Like it or not, that little "I'm different, I didn't support X and Y and Z and I never voted for him and yadda yadda yadda" line doesn't work anymore. You are an American, and that is that. And, while 55 million people didn't vote for George Bush, the OVERWHELMING majority of people think that we should stay in Iraq to finish the job. Republican or Democrat, that is a purely American frame of mind, and one that you are part of wether you like it or not.

Really lawyers are like sperm, you see there's more to sperm than straight up fertilisation. Some sperm are special Hunter Killer sperm that swim around the egg and kill rival sperm. That's what lawyers are, H/K Sperm.

Most recently I protested the war at the corner of rt 15 and Jefferson two weeks ago. Prior to that, I've attended numerous rallies (including the last national march in washington, where I had a policemen point his rifle at me for protesting.) I've also attended numerous rallies in my area, as well as written my congressmen, senator, and the state supreme court (that was about the death penalty though).

I've also protested numerous times in and around the Rochester, NY area, as well as donating my time and money to kerry's campagin in my area.

I'm an activist :)

I'm trying to rail a chick who goes to these things though... that was why I first started going, so those aligations aren't 100% false. :P

======================================================================================================

Since when frogs cared about innocent people. They just can't stand the fact that the US is number one.

Politicians are starting to take blame for the things they have done, such as supporting the war on Iraq.

-----------------------------------------------

i sifted this out of the layers of partisan bullshit i just saw you shit all over my screen. if this is true, then i'm pretty sure the extreme majority (some 90%) of politicians should be taking heat.

and the majority of americans supported the war in iraq when it started.

and even if bush is a retard, he isn't the one soley responsible for running this country. those that believe it's a president's fault for a country falling to shit are the same people that believe tony dungy is the only reason the colts are good.

My sentiments exactly. I don't necessarily hate our country but I hate the way it's become. I've thought about saying fuck it and moving to another country to get the hell away from here but since everyone hates Americans, I don't think I'd really be welcome anywhere else. I hate our dumbass president, I hate the stupid bullshit war, and I hate hypocritical religious bastards who think "god" loves them for hating and killing other people. Isn't that supposed to be a sin or something? I would think so but I haven't done the religion thing since I was like 7.

You shouldn't take much stock in what Caul has to say. He's had a penis in his mouth.

Awesome. Too bad god doesn't exist to give any justification to what "some" assholes did to our government.

Actually it's not too bad. God doesn't exist. Ride out this gay shit, then when I become ruler of the world, everyone will be forced to knock one out 3 times a day in order to calm the nerves. Not a single war will happen for 81 years.

Dude, well said

I hate the fact that when I meet people from 'across the pond' or anywhere else for that matter they always have to ask what 'we' were thinking. Like all US citizens are cut from the same God loves Republicans, don't forget the 9/11 mold.

I hate Republicans, I hate the war, and I hate seafood.

I showed that website to my canadian friend. He laughed his ass off.

ALbeit, if you showed a similar anti-american website to an american, they'd fly off the deepend.

I also was told "You know, our media really casts americans in a bad light. But you guys are actually really cool."

I said "Thanks man."

He said "It must be just along the border of Canada though. It's our influence or something."

I laughed my ass off.

It's sad that it is that way though (the website thing). I think most americans need to chill out on the whole "america is the best" thing. It's fairly arrogant.
