A little background information:
I have an amazing ability to attract men who, to put it politely, are complete wankers. One particular ex of mine, (we'll call him Tom) was no exception. When I met him I looked past the drug and drink addiction and saw a beauty in him that no-one else could see. I thought I could help him, and I was very very wrong.
2 weeks after we met he was thrown out of his parents house for using cocaine. I said he could stay with me for a while until he got himself sorted out. I only enforced 1 rule. No A class drugs in my house. From then on things seemed to get worse, he ended up living with me for 3 months. I didn't ask him for any money and I did all his cleaning, cooking and ironing because I thought I was helping him.
After three months, our relationship was a little rocky and I asked him to leave. His parents said they would have him back and we went our separate ways.
2 Weeks after we split up, my bank account was emptied. I received numerous amounts of death threats, my house was broken into and my cat was kicked to death in my front garden. I called the police but there was "no evidence". I moved house and forgot about the whole thing.
This morning (about two and a half years since we split up) I was walking to work, when I saw his mother. I said hello and walked past. She stepped in front of me so she was facing me and punched me in the face. A fifty year old woman punched me in the face and then started telling me (and everyone within a 5 mile radius) how I ruined her son's life and turned him to drugs blah blah blah.....
I stood, stunned for a little while trying to take in what had just happened whilst a crowd was growing around the banshee and I. Every time I tried to interrupt her and tell her how wrong she was, she spoke over me, making it impossible for me to speak. Eventually I walked away, through the 20 strong crowd that had materialised around us, with a confused smile on my face.
The bitch got me from behind, she punched me so hard in the back of the head I tripped and knocked myself out on a wall. I now have four stitches in my forehead and mild concussion.
The police were called and when I tried to explain what happened, they didn't believe me. They didn't believe that a 50 something old hag bag had done it. I'm waiting for them to call me back once they check the CCTV. I can't wait! In fact, I'm going to see if I can have a copy of it for myself, purely so I can see how amusing it must have looked from an outsiders point of view!
I guess the one question that arose in my mind after all this was should I have hit her back? I initially think yes, of course I should have, and it pissed me off that I didn't. This episode has turned me into a bitter and twisted lady, and I seek revenge. Would it be wrong for me to hunt her down and crucify her in her front garden?

I am indeed giong to press charges, I made a statement and there are three witnesses that have come forward, as well as the cctv footage..so basically...the dirty pikey scum bitch is fucked, and that makes me happy.

I got a call from the police this morning, he said that they'd examined the cctv footage very carefully and I am well within my right to press charges for ABH and (get this!) slander! he he! yay!

Here is the thing though, if you had hit her back the crowd might have jumped in on her side. I mean here is a we'll assume respectable looking older woman accusing you of all sorts of things so they were probably on her side. Although, they certainly didn't seem to step in to help you so maybe not.
I'm going to go with, it would certainly not have been wrong to have hit her back but it will look better in court when they discover that you did not.
As for the evidence thing, I lost all and any respect I ever had for the police when I was in college. I had a psycho ex-boyfriend who kept vandalizing my car. We split up because he was turning violent and I don't play dat. So, we had one of those "fuck you we're not dating you can't tell me what to do" hang up phone fights. When it was over I just had to get out of there so I went to the movies with a friend of mine. When we got back to my place we found out that Mr. Wonderful had apparently come over there and got pissed when I was not around and took his anger out on my car yet again. I called the police. I thought they would at least go over to his place, ask him a few questions, and scare him off.

They wouldn't even go talk to him without a witness. I mean shit, I'm sure that if a cop showed up on his doorstep asking him a lot of questions about where he was and if he knew anything about the car it would have made him think twice before he pulled that crap again.

Yes hit her back, it's NEVER ok for someone to strike you unless you struck first. Learned your lesson, you can't fix em and people always try for some stupid reason. Besides parents will always blame the other rather than their own flesh and blood.

Sue, sue, sue. I hope you documented each little thing that happened thus far. It must have taken amazing restraint for you to have not opened a can of whoop ass on that bitch. If I could give you a +10, I would, just for that. It will look better in court that you did not attack her back, even though you would be justified.

I think crucifying her in her front garden would only be wrong if you didn't do it upside down, and pissed on her face while she's still alive. Make sure that before she dies she is humiliated in the worst possible ways. Take pictures. Make her understand that if she's gonna fuck with someone, she's gonna pay the consequences, this time a mouth full of piss and death.

I feel bad about your cat... no, really. I can't stand any sort of harm coming to my feline friends. About the situation... wow, that's really fucked up! Especially about the police not being able to find any "evidence". I'm guessing that Tom's family was about just as fucked up as he is.
Kick him out then take him back in and blame you for the drug abuse? They need to make up their fucking mind!

I was unaware of his problem when I first met him, and maybe I should have not got too involved when I found out, but I wanted to help him, I truely belived that he was a half decent human being. I was niave and learnt from my mistake. But it's hard not to care when you see someone going through something like that.

I think so, I'm a little concerned about the police being involved though. But I have an amazingly wonderful husband and my family are very supportive so I reckon I'll be just fine. If I'm not I'm going to hide under my bed for the rest of eternity.

Here's the thing. Scabs like this love to latch on to people. They are oppurtunistic and vile, they particularly like to target women. It's all going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
Expect harrasment. These people live in their own fantasy world, they cannot be reasoned with. They look around themselves at the filth and squalor they live in then they go out looking for someone to blame.
Incidently, I heartily respect you're original efforts with the young lad. It's just a shame he had a family, makes it harder for the police to lock them up when they're round smashing your windows and screaming at you because they've not paid their electricity bill.
I don't know what you should do. I've only seen other people's lives be ruined by these fucks, I don't know how your meant to get rid of them.
