Have ever I refused to be a man?
Did I, within the maze of my mystique,
Extinguish all the fires, turn them out
The door to whimper at an icy moon?
(Of late, the candles sit collecting dust
And after they are guttered, they remain,
Smoking in the center of the room.)
For man is more a chamber, one as full
As he makes himself to be: he is
Not empty who has bought a simple chair,
Or hung a tapestry along the wall.
(He is not bare, who carves his name
Across the thresholdand just this, if all.)
How often I uncannily received
A stroke of luck, or blessing from the Fates,
And thought myself exclusively the heir!
Who never hoped to do a mortal wrong
Against another, did not I bring them
Behind a veil, the wiserall along?
(Who is it, then, deceived in his distress,
Who showed his back to those in need
And turned his fellows from their rest?
Not I, not I!the blade behind the dream)
But I perceived myself as like a king
Who knows no need for counsel. What disgrace
Is fallen on me has not been my own,
Though I would be the first to reap reward!
And yes, I tire, but could recover now
To sing my last, and fall upon my sword.

Haha ... thanks. Really. I've floated around the site for a few weeks now, thought I'd open an account and post something of my own.
Read the first section of your 'King Wenceslas,' and thoroughly enjoyed it, though I suppose I'll have to rate you over there, where you'll be paying more attention.
Oh, and nice handle. Its a shame we can't rate others' user names on here ... bah.
Stay tuned.

Good first post, and good job for not annoucning it.
Better than my first post, which was poetry as well (albeit written with SPT in mind): http://www.ubersite.com/m/71938
Let's see what else you've got.

Not bad. You know few people make their first post poetry. I commend you for that.
