So I went up the Spinnaker tower yesterday (no queues!) It's a bit wobbly at the top but here are my pictures.
The Solent, the 5 miles of water between the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth is, pound for mile the most expensive to cross in the world (allegedly). It's costing us £80 to go there and back for Christmas.

I went to Uni in Portsmouth, it really is the greyest place in the whole world. And it's full of wankers.
I nearly wet myself laughing when the Spinnaker tower opened and the lift broke down with important people in it!

ETS you chose well- that's where everyone wants to live- to live in Old Portsmouth costs more than long suffering teachers can afford. I don't even KNOW anyone who lives in that part of the city. And you are right- the people here do drink A LOT. I teach 15 year old girls who could easily outdrink the majority of this site- they think nothing of drinking a whole bottle of vodka on a weeknight.

I could definitely see myself living there, in one of those flats down from the cathedral by the harbor. That looks like a town that drinks a lot.

I've been on that Brisbane Ferry, Thorpe.
Sadly, the suicide rate in the UK is quite high. I blame it on the monarchy though.

England is so grey. I'm surprised your suicide rate isn't markedly higher than the rest of the world's.
The ferry I use to get to uni costs $AU 1.60 (if you're not a student/concession) and takes you about 100 meters. You're a teacher, you do some maths.
