With all this hustle and bustle of "Merry Christmas" and the horrible Happy Holidays, I go back to my roots.
Anyone familiar with Methodists? No they aren't druggie tree huggers of the Christian religion. They are, however, on the religious spectrum a tad bit left. The current "motto" is --Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors. I am a skeptical person when it comes to religions. Fundamentalist Christians scare me, and truthfully scare a lot of people. They drive away people from the core of what those fundamentalists stand for.
I digress--
My brother (who is a staunch Republican) detests the saying of Happy Holidays. We come from a family where my mom was a hippie and my dad is a union electrician. Stong underdog, blue collar, working class roots. He is an alien. I couldn't be more embarrassed. Is he afraid of Christmas being taken over? Take a look around you--there are signs of Christmas everywhere, that will not go away.
Only of recent have I understood this on a deeper level. Most of us on the web site are members of the majority. I am too. But I fell in love with a man who is not. This has opened my mind. Christmas will always be here. Always. Is it right to exclude different cultures, when it is their holiday season too? It isn't.
I don't think people should stop having Christmas trees. To call it a Holiday tree is ridiculous. It's a Christmas tradition. But the month of December, the holiday season holds celebrations for not only Christians. Instead of changing the city decorations to read Happy Holidays, why not have decor relating to all holidays. Then no one bitches, and everyone is represented.
So shut yer yappers. It's a blow to Chrisitanity and against what I was taught, "Love your neighbor, respect each other" These are not religious teachings, it's about morals. And it's sad to see that Christians today are going ballistic and giving the name Christian a bad connotation.

I'd wager that the majority of Uberites, when asked "What is your religious affiliation and do you regularly attend an organized ceremony relating that affiliation?" would answer "[any of thousands, pick one] and no" (or possibly "Real football, not American football, and I watch it onna telly.")
Your post boils down to "Can't we all just get along?"
No, we cannot. Most people would like to be free to think as they please and believe what they want to believe, but some people would rather impose their beliefs on everyone else. Therefore the answer is no, we cannot all get along. Fortunately, most of us can.

I agree with your last part - In the 'ol USA we are supposedly guaranteed the rights to privacy and freedom of religion, however, these "evangelicals" "fundamentalist christians" and "conservatives" have decided they would like to force their religions down the throats of the rest of us.
However this therefore means we cannot all get along. Especially since our current president is a methodist and is at the forefront of this charge, we definitely cannot get along.
The reason we need to keep all forms of religion out of the public realm? So methodists and other religious fucktards cant force their "values" and "morality" on the rest of us.

I just finished looking for a christmas card for my girl's parents. I am going to see them at their Chaunaka party next friday. She didn't want me to mail them a card because if it was before christmas it would have said Merry christmas.

I can't -2 a fellow Methodist. Did you know the term "Methodist" was originally a derogatory term for John Wesley and any other people who worshipped as methodically as he did? I learned that when I was confirmed, and I can't remember anything but that from the confirmation classes.
Clearly, Methodists are a mellow highly persecuted people, just like Jewish people. Except waaaaaaaay poorer.
