There are so many ways to begin and not a single one of them feels right. I guess I'll just have to wing it and do the best I can.
I want you to know that I have thought about you from time to time. I don't know why you did what you did; I've gone through all the scenarios in my head. Maybe you were too young and were not ready for the responsibility. Maybe you were poor and knew you couldn't afford to give me what you wanted me to have. Maybe it was something else, I don't know. Whatever your reason was, I want you to know that it's ok. They told me while I was still young enough that it just never was an issue, ya know? I don't even remember a time when I didn't know. I have a sister, and she was adopted, too. Hell, she might have even been the one who told me. The point is, I wanted you to know that I haven't been holding anything against you. I trust in your decision and hope everything has turned out well for you, wherever you are.
Mom and Dad (you don't mind if I refer to them like that, do you? I hope that's cool with you) did well by me. Other than the average teen angst bullshit period that everyone goes through, there was never a period in my life that looking back on I can honestly say I was unhappy for a good reason. They didn't spoil me, (which pissed me off at times) they didn't abuse me, and they were usually pretty supportive, if not a bit head-strong on making me earn what was mine. I know that they know some things about you, and I am also fairly sure that you have kept in touch to some extent. I never asked. I don't even know all that much about how the adoption process works, for that matter. For all I know, there is no way you COULD have kept in touch. Hmmm... oh well.
Let's see, what would I want to know if I were you? I have worked a series of minimum wage jobs since I moved out, I just never have found that great calling that demands my full, devoted attention. But I do well enough and keep a roof over my head, and my DVD collection grows by the week. Somewhere down the line I turned into a real film nut. Almost obsessively so. I started playing guitar in seventh grade, which is when everybody who plays guitar starts playing. I think I'm alright. I think you already knew the bit about the music, though. When I was in college for the one year I went, I recorded an album in the radio production room. When I had copies printed up and did an interview for the school paper, there was one person who ordered it through the mail. That person was from Lexington, and that's one thing I do know about you. Maybe I'm jumping at shadows, but I'd like to think that, well...
I'm a big animal lover. I think that just comes with growing up on a farm. I've thought at times about becoming a vegetarian, but dammit, cows just taste so good! Pigs taste good! Emu tastes good. They were also a solid investment for about six months, which was roughly twelve months BEFORE Dad decided to invest in them. Yep, your little boy fed and played with the emus. Until the bottom fell out and Dad whacked all their heads off. There are some buried in the barn. Ick. But from what I ate of them, they seemed like nice birds.
There's really just not that much more to tell. I grew up, turned out fairly well, and am sitting here writing to you even though you'll never read this. Or maybe you will. Who knows? Stanger things have surely happened. Not many, but some.
Well, I guess that's all I have to say at this time. Maybe I'll have questions later that will compel me to actively try to track you down. As for now, I think I'll leave things as you left them and not overstep myself. Just know that I do think of you and that I hope you're well. I hope with everything I have that you're well.
I miss you.
Merr Christmas.

I wish Bart would reset your fucking password so you could post here instead of your pulsehead account.
I guess for those of you who followed morontian and have wondered where he's been, he forgot his password for this account and although he has emailed Bart several times about getting it reset, he hasn't heard anything.
Here is his pulsehead account: http://pulsehead.com/message/morontian
Email Bart and ask him to please reset the password.
This was a good post by the way.

As much as we may all love teh emus, you haven't lived until you've been in a pen with about twenty of them when they get spooked. Good times, good times.
