Well The big day has passed and no matter how many news stories we saw about "corporations taking the Christ out of Christmas" just after (after I might add) the daily stock report and sales figures for the holiday season. The Christian faith still seems to be alive and well, so f the naysayers because they don't mean a thing.
Just thinking, I went home, not a long journey but still it is a place I do not visit very often. Well it will sound very trite but this season is about family (if you have one). My father died many years ago, grandfathers before I was born, one grandmother is deceased and the other is out of her mind with senile dementia. This among other deaths and various different paths the family has taken make for a small holiday meal. Nonetheles I really felt more of a kinship with my mom, brother and stepdad than ever before. I feel that it is a shame to have gone some 30 plus years before I realized that, my family are only trying their best to go through life. They did not have an instruction manual any more thanI do. Strange, but as I get older I find more in common with mom and my crazy aunt, and my brother and the few other people there at Christmas dinner.
So if that is my experience this year, then no matter what religion you are at some point in December of January you have a major holiday. Use it for connectng with family and others and leave all this other crap alone.
It makes me believe that no matter what (if any)deity you believe in, they would want you to spend time with the people who you have the closest bond.
Except for Catholics they are really fucked up.
Ha Ha just kidding!!!

I really sympathize with Christians who are offended by the secularization and commercialization of Christmas. I can see why they might be driven to put frightening, gory displays in their front yards for the whole neighborhood to see (even tiny children who won't get the "satire", but will have nightmares). And they criticize Marilyn Manson because...... ?
After all, as one girl said on the news, it's an important message to protest how the holiday was taken away from Christians.
I wish some Druids would take back their holy day and make the same statement with these people, preferably by performing a blood sacrifice on their front lawn.
