I probably now have the most extensive 80's collection (popular hits) than anyone you know. I have offered this to a couple people, but it is not complete... yet. Having a full time job hurts when you need to download 1000 songs. (Do I have my priorities screwed up?)
I have set goals to finish this by downloading at minimum 100 songs a day all week...that should round finish it off with perhaps a few straglers which will have to be downloaded.
So FINALLY my ultimate 80's collection will be complete. Sure there may be 1 or 2 songs that are missing and will need to be added, but I'd have to say I have 97% of all 80's tunes everyone would bring up.
There is one person (they know who they are) who is getting their own personal copy. (It's coming soon, I PROMISE.)
But, who else wants in on this? I could send a copy to be passed around, copied, and sent to the next person. There are alot of junk tunes along with the gems, but I feel it is worth it. You'll be saying "Holy shit! I haven't heard that song in years!" many times over.
If the following lyrics mean nothing to you, ignore this post.
#1: I catch the paperboy. But things don't really change. I'm standing in the wind, but I never wave bye-bye. Would I try, I try....
#2: 99. I've been waiting so long, oh 99. Where did we go wrong? Oh 99...I love you...
#3: What are words for when no one listens anymore? When no one listens...When no one listens theres no use talking at all.
#4: How many times must I tell you babe? How many bridges I got to cross? How many times must I explain myself before I could talk to the boss? Before I could talk to the boss...
#5: Well, in this life I've seen everything I can see, woman. I've seen lovers flying through the air.. hand in hand. I've seen babies dancing in the midnight sun. And I've seen dreams that come from the heavenly skies above. I've seen old men cryin' at their own gravesites. And I've seen pigs all sittin' watchin' pictures fly. But...I...ain't....never seen nothin' like you. Do-ya do-ya want my love?
#6: I hardly know this beauty by my side. Oooh....I'll never forget, the way you took tonight...I never will forget the way you look tonight. The lady in red...
#7: I am the eye in the sky, looking at you...I can read your mind. I am the maker of rules, dealing with fools. I can cheat you blind. And I don't need to see anymore to know I can read your mind.
#8: Well theres too many windows, in this old hotel. And rooms filled with reckless pride. And the walls have grown sturdy, and the halls have worn well. But theres nobody living inside. Nobody living insiiiiide. Gonna pull in the shutters of this heart of mine, roll up the carpets and put in the blinds and retreat to the chambers that I left behind in hopes there's still love left to find.
#9: When theres lightning, you know it always brings me down. 'Cause its free and I see that it's me who is lost and never found. I cry out for magic. I see it dancing in the light. It went cold, lost my hold to the shadows of the night. No sign of the morning coming...you've been left on your own like a rainbow in the dark.
#10: When I come home, you telephone, and you say you're waiting for me. I ask you out, I hear you cry but you're still waiting for me. Someday you'll be shedding your tears... To cry over me. Someday, I'll be losing this fear.
Well...I could go through the whole list, but it stands at 1500 tunes right now. Please don't offer any titles because let me tell you.... my list is large and has damn near EVERYTHING you can think of.
So...Who is interested in getting a copy of this? (And the person I already promised needs not say anything other than "hurry your ass up")

Attention Uber Ladies who around in the 70's....
Remember when the Barbie who could grow bigger boobs came out (late 70's)? What was the name of that Barbie? Something corny but I can't remember what.
I had a girly-girl cousin that had that Barbie. I was a Tomboy and remember laughing my ass off at her Barbie with the expanding bust line.
She started crying thus causing me to get into trouble.
She was a little bitch then and still is one today.
Her boobs never did grow either.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh my fucking god - SKIPPER! I had that doll. I think it's still in the basement in a box somewhere. The hilarious part was winding her arm round and round to make them grow, then spinning it in the opposite direction to make them shrink.
Can you imagine the fuss it would cause if they made Skipper today?

Excellent project! I'm in the middle of seeking out 80's music videos on eMule. I'm only up to J in the alphabet, and the video quality is usually rather ca-ca, but...I watch some of these, and find myself smiling and whispering things like: "Oh, hi there. Yeah. I remember you!"
It's a fairly tangled project, but I think I really must set these up as a torrent once they're all in. It would be huge; probably 20 GB *AFTER* I pick through them, and would take months to seed, but what the hell. It's a thought.

Yeah...I guess so. ELO, you are right... But that version is 70's music, I have 80's. I should have known that... My 70's knowledge is so-so. I'll download the ELO version now. Thanks for the correction.
Although, I do see that "Do Ya" was originally made by "the move" which I believe most members became ELO where the single was re-released and a hit. (Todd Rundgren also had a hit along with Ace Frehley which is the version I got...I should have known. It is 1989 and I knew the song was older than that....and the ELO version is on a commercial for Christ's sake.)

You dispute "the list"?!? HOW DARE YOU! (Of course it is on there.)
Hell, there are a couple that I know I am missing... but not many. Like through all the lists I combined to make this giant 80's collection, I noticed "Feel it again" by Honeymoon Suite was on there, but "Bad Attitude" wasn't. A terrible oversight on someones part... Along with Bonham having "Wait For You" but not "Guilty". I hear both those songs on older classic rock stations.
I managed to hear a couple tunes on the radio that weren't on the list and I had them added immediately..."Voices" by Russ Ballard.
Making this list was 1/2 the battle...downloading the rest isn't easy either (there are tons of BS on the p2p networks). There are probably a dozen obscure tunes I can't find yet...I have to check every once in awhile.
One I've had no luck on is "Runaway" by Luis Cardenas... If you got a real good memory you might have remembered the Del Shannon remake with the claymation dinosaurs on the video.

#9: When theres lightning, you know it always brings me down. 'Cause its free and I see that it's me who is lost and never found. I cry out for magic. I see it dancing in the light. New Order? Hmmm... (Checks list...)
At least the ones here (that I see...I have two lists and some downloaded/some not yet...but will be...hell I have the CD's so I don't need to worry about missing out...)
All Day Long, Bizarre Love Triangle, Perfect Kiss, Round And Round, Shellshock, Subculture, The Perfect Kiss, True Faith, Way of Life, Weirdo.
I told you. If it is in the 80's and got some popularity ANYWHERE.... I have it.
