Pickle scared me from my sleep. I felt terrible, I was sore and my head hurt, but Pickle kept shaking until I got up.
"They're coming Ben, you have to go!"
"Who's coming Pickle?"
"The Big Man's guards, they're coming to take you. I overheard the Big Man give the order saying you would be killed before the day was through. I think you need to slip out and attack him."
"Why should I do that Pickle? I'm too tired to run right now."
"Here, take some of this Ben, it'll make you feel better."
I took the flask Pickle was offering and took a big gulp. The liquid burned and tasted awful but I did immediately feel better.
"What is that?"
"Pure imagination." Pickle turned away after saying this and I noticed for the first time that I couldn't see any edges to his mask.
"Where does it come from?"
Pickle turned angrily toward me. "We don't have time for this Ben. You've got to get out of here right now!"
"Take off your mask Pickle; I want to see your face."
"I can't you'll be scared and grossed out." I watched Pickle as he said this and I knew that he was lying to me.
I was going to push him on it but a fist banged loudly on the door. "Open the door! We know you're in there traitor."
Pickle grabbed my arm and pulled me through the house. When he reached the kitchen he let go of my arm, crawled under the table and opened a trap door that had been hidden under a rug. I followed him down a steep stair into a dark hall. Pickle ran back past me and closed the door again. "Oops sorry Pickle."
"Come on!" He hissed at me. I followed him closely trying to see him in the dark. Suddenly he stopped and I ran right into him. "Wait kid! I have to open the door!"
He swung the door open and we found ourselves standing face to face with more of the guard. Pickle bolted and managed to run between the guards shouting for me to follow. Before I could move though rough hands seized me and told me to be quiet and still.
As they carried me toward the castle I felt myself getting mad. I hadn't done anything wrong, there's no reason for me to be in trouble. I thought to myself that the guards were the ones being naughty and that they should all be shocked for being mean. Even as I thought it I felt a tingle run through my body and then the guards were thrown away from me as though they'd been struck by lightning. The guards laid there squirming in pain, I thought that they needed to be kept here and that I needed a jail cell around them. I looked up and found myself standing outside the bars of an old timer jail cell.
I felt him before I saw him. The Big Man was on his way here. He came around the corner roaring like some kind of monster. "You can't do this!' he screamed at me.
"Pickle said you were under control! He said you would be easy to take! You can't have control!"
"Pickle?"
The Big Man threw his arms out in my direction and suddenly there were millions of angry bees flying in my direction. I thought "fire" and there was a wall of fire in front of me scorching the bees as they flew through it. I thought the Big Man was really the one that needed to be shocked and this time I did think of lightening. I saw the purple flash and could feel the electricity in the air even as it struck the enormous metal pole sticking out of the ground near the Big Man. The noise was amazing, it hurt my ears, and for a moment I was caught off guard. The Big Man sent lightening of his own, his was shiny, silver, and looked almost like liquid light. I was almost struck before I pictured my self standing right next to the Big Man and then found myself there. The lightening hit the jail cell sending a shower of sparks into the air, the bars of the jail glowed briefly and then all was quiet.
I could feel the Big Man's thoughts. I could feel all of him actually and I could feel him feeling me. I turned and looked at him and realized that I am him, he is me. Further understanding dawned on me then. I pictured myself as one and the Big Man disappeared then I turned my mind to Pickle. I searched for him the way I could find Dad, the way I could find the Big Man before but I couldn't find Pickle.
Giving up I thought of dad in the castle and found myself standing in front of him. I needed dad to help me figure it all out. I hoped dad could help me because as the Big Man I was trapped here, I knew this, why I knew wasn't clear to me but I knew it to be true.

I really like these. Go ahead and laugh at me for admitting this but I watched Shark Boy and Lava Girl with my kids and this is sounding a little like that.

Yes it has me. Don't know how much is left. Before I thought the showdown between Ben and BM would probably be the end but suddenly a new story appeared when Bob suggested I write from the Bangers point of view. It's very strange. I think ultimately I end up with the same explanation of this exciting "new world" but this ends up having a little more depth, hopefully. must stop rambling.
