I actually have to do this for a school project, so bear with me:
Of the three 128 bit game consoles avaliable on the market right now (Gamecube, Xbox, and Playstation 2) which is your favorite? Defend your answer.
This is my final project of the year, and if anyone could help me with my poll it'd be a big help. Or I could just make up the answers. Either way.

I think the answer to this is very obvious. But first, let me ask a question:
WHY DO YOU PLAY VIDEO GAMES???
The usual answer is... because you like to play video games... right?
Well, not to an X-Box owner. The X-Box has one exclusive game worth playing: Halo. ONE EXCLUSIVE GAME!!!!!!!! This thing can play CD's, DVD's (with an attachment), go online, etc. But they only have one game. Owners of X-Box's brag and brag about what the system can do, it's specs and so forth, but when it comes down to it, they only have one title in their library that they can go back to with any amount of satisfaction: Halo. And, in my opinion, it isn't that great of a game to begin with. It's called AN UNLIMITED MEGA-CORPORATION MEGA-MILLION DOLLAR MARKETING BUDJET. Microsoft spent OODLES to market their system. Maybe they should have spent some of this on games.
I just finished borrowing a friend's PS2 that came with GTAVC and I rented FFX. Now, Final Fantasy kicked everyone's ass. I spent 80 hours leveling up and owed Hollywood well over $20 in late fees... completely worth every penny.
But.
After I finished that game I went back to Hollywood to rent another good game. I went through 3 'big' PS2 titles, amongst the bizzillions to choose from, and I lost interest in less than a half an hour, out six bucks. The PS2 has great hardware, an unlimited game selection, and only two good games to speak of. Borrow a friend's until you beat those two games.
I personally own a Gamecube. I've played the following EXCLUSIVE titles and had a blast.
Zelda Wind Waker
Zelda OOT (port from N64 version, just as fun)
Super Mario Sunshine (a little kiddy, but FUN to play)
Eternal Darkness (an M rated games for all you small-pecker boys)
Metroid Prime (too much hype, but a fun game)
Resident Evil (best in-game graphics I've seen on ANY game console)
These games are NOT available for PS2 OR X-Block.
The bottom line:
If Microsoft's marketing budjet brainwashed you in to thinking that you should buy a console based on hardware numbers, and you only want to play one good exclusive game, buy an X-Box.
If you need to have a plethora of half-rate games with only a small handful of exclusive games worth your time, buy a PS2.
If you play games to play games, and your dick is at least 6'' in length (we don't want to threaten masculine egos with a 'kiddy' machine) buy a Gamecube.
As far as DVD compatability: WHO FUCKING DOESN'T ALREADY HAVE A DVD PLAYER??

PS2 hands down.
Games are games...PS2 has the largest variety of games, and you can play PS1 games on it as well.
X-box may have HALO but PS2 has everything else.
Controllers
Nintendo controllers have ALWAYS sucked, from the 8-bit system on up.
X-box controller is unwieldy and doesn't fit right in your hand.
PS2 controller, you can hold in several different ways, depending on the game you are playing. The analog sticks are responsive and fluid with the pause button easy to access without moving your hands hardly at all.
System wise:
PS2 has been out longer than the X-box and Gamecube, X-box has the complete system with network interface and harddrive, gamecube....well we all know gamecube has very little. PS2 is expandable though to meet different needs.

PS2 is by far the best, more games, better games, WAY better controllers, not huge controllers that I can barely fit two hands around.
Gamecube is worthless, chitty little kid games, and gigantic controllers, they piss me off.
X-Box controllers also suck ass, even worse than gamecube, but X-box is still better than gamecube for two reasons, Halo, and Panzer Dragoon: ORTA.
but, PC really is better than all those. I just wish I had a better PC

In general: PS2. Best variety of games, great graphics and play, overall best value.
My opinion: X-Box. One reason: Halo.

PC's will always win no matter what. With the technology we are capable of producing, PC's will always have the edge.
Power wise Xbox is the strongest most profitable console out there. With every feature it is capable of it is worth around 800 dollars but it is still lacking awesome games...
Which is where the PS2 takes it's stand. It has some of the best games available and probably in the long run will continue to be number one, although Microsoft has the power to sell Xbox's at any price they want, and could soon turn the tables.
Gamecube could be one of best systems had they not stuck everything into a freakin tiny purple box. If they were to make a Gamecube the size of a PS2 or an Xbox it would be far more worth it's dollar, but they had to be different with their damn 3 1/2 inch discs and excluding the DVD capability.
I own an Xbox and play that nonstop. If I had money for a better computer, hands down I'd upgrade or purchase a new one, but I'll stick with my Xbox, and hit my friends house to play the PS2 or Gamecube regularly anytime.

Well hell if you wanted you could shove it on a book case and look all edumicated and stuff... Or just shove it on top of the VCR (not the TV though cause I hate wires dangling in front of the TV when I play video games...)... The damn thing is able to go anywhere I tell you. ANYWHERE!!!!!!
Id buy it just because you could do it standing up or layin down...
I tried to make that sound as dirty as possible yet still retain to the topic of the PS2... Failed horribly I have...

P2 fucking rocks. DVD player, CD player and game player all in one for a low price, can also play P1 games on it, extremely stable, good variety of games available, small and compact console - overall definite winner.

PS2... More games than any other system. Backwards compatable with PS games. More adult oriented games. Quite a few children oriented games. Made by Sony. Been around longer. Tried and true. Can stand verticle or horizontal. Black. Plays DVDs. Cheaper. Can now play online. Not made by a company which is run by the devil, better known as Bill Gates.
Gamecube has one thing and one thing alone going for it. Itty Bitty CDs and its kid oriented crap... Ok well maybe thats 2 but thats all it has going for it... Its like the Victorias Secret of porn... Its great until you realize theres something better out there. Like tits and vag...

Good post. Well PS2 for me , followed by Xbox. I used to be a die hard Nintendo fan
had all the fuckin systems Game Boy Pockey, GBC Colour, NES, SNES, Virtual Boy, and
the N64. Now when they lost their awesome Snes developers it pissed me the fuck off
So I bought a PSX(Orginal name for Playstation). After that I got a PS2 because it was the
first machine on the market and well the DVD and ability to play PSX games was bling. Then
Gamecube and Xbox launch im like ill wait. Rare gets sold I'm like well thats the nail in
the fucking coffin! Fuck Nintendo! They market all their games towards the fucking
kiddy audience. Lets face it you just cant market at one direct age group and expect to be
successful. They have basically no fucking Teen Audience unless you of course like two year
old games. And they fucking slaughter the Zelda series. Nintendo is hopefully going to pull
a fucking Sega and go under. They are soooooo fucked right now with Sony now jumping in the
handheld market with the PSP being cd and more powerful then a fucking Regular Playstation.
So in fucking conclusion fuck Nintendo! Just give up all your third party support is pulling
games and putting them on fucking Xbox And PS2.

GameCube because of Nintendo's killer franchises, and PS2 because of its massive game library, many of which are actually fun to play.
X-Sux? Let me see... oh yes. Halo. Halo, Halo, Halo. That's the rallying cry of X-Sux owners everywhere. I looked up Halo in the dictionary the other day. You know what it said? "Doom, but with better graphics."

Personally, I like the Gamecube. I think out of the big consoles it has the best graphics and smoothest gameplay(Zelda is an amazing game, I've really never seen anything like it). Yes, the GC is stereotyped as a kiddie console, but if anyone has played Eternal Darkness its one of the most graphic and horrifying video games Ive EVER played (plus it fucking owns).GC exclusives like Metroid Prime and Mario Sunshine are also damn fun. I like the GC because of games like Mario Party which are great for playing when you and your friends are drunk, and other games like Smash Bros and TimeSplitters 2(yes I know its mutil-platform), and soon to be Mario Kart GC. Plus, the wireless Wavebird controller is 100% kickass, I play across the room, laying down, moving, and it never lags or anything, plus the batteries take forever to die. While, the GC can't play DVD's I don't give a shit because I have a badass DVD player. I don't like the Xbox because the Controllers are fucking Huge and like $40 a piece, and if you want view DVD's you have to buy a $30 a adapter. I also don't think there are enough XBox exclusive games warranting choosing the Xbox over anything else. With the PS2, they have A TON of games, but for every 1 good game they produce, the create 20 shitty games. I also don't like that you have to buy an adapter to play 4 players on the PS2. I like the GC, but the Ps2 would be my second choice.
GC for dis jigaa!

playstation 2 'cause its not gay like gamecube (aimed at kiddies) and not made by the evil one, microsoft, like, duh, xbox. also the issues with xboxs harddrive and the fact that you have to buy a warranty from M$. and I got my PS2 for free. yeah.
