{Please forgive any fuckups in this installment. I really should be worrying about other things, but I want to push to the end of this tale.}

ALLAHTOWN
(8)
Chaos.
Faces became pale smears as detainees raced by, the spotlights on the watch towers sweeping over them.
Voices shouted, screamed. English, Arabic, cries of alarm and triumph and terror.
A running governor stopped, knocked the knife out of Samir's hand with a strike of a dead joystick, picked up the knife, and kept running.
Samir went to the fence, standing where he had last seen Ana.
The women's camp was in an uproar. A group of women ran across the open courtyard brandishing garden tools.
Sam heard the faint buzz of joysticks, and a muffled gunshot.
A woman passed close by, white hands gripping a pitchfork. The tines were slick with blood.
A shout. "Stand back, friend!"
Samir jumped aside as a wheelbarrow loaded down with big sacks of rice was guided into a fencepost by two burly men. The fencepost rang and the barrow tipped its heavy load. The men quickly refilled, retreated, struck again. The fencepost sagged and part of the chain link was torn free.
Men surged through the gap and began pulling at the second fence.
Gunfire came from the watch towers and men went down.
Samir watched all of this. He would never get Ana out of here unharmed. He needed safe passage. He turned and ran back toward the administrative offices.
*
True and O'Hare were in the assessor's office, watching a monitor.
"Jesus," the governor said, "It's getting ugly out there."
True nodded and leaned back in his chair. "And it will get uglier. Our job is done. We simply sit tight and wait until dawn. The National Guard has already been alerted. They've actually been on standby, not far from here. At midnight, not long now, they hit the gates, along with a television camera crew who by some odd twist of fate will stumble across this remote location and a terrorist uprising in progress. Once our brave young soldiers have stopped the escape of Islamic Fundamentalist terrorists who could have spawned God knows how many more incidents on the scale of 9/11, we find young Samir, and put this in his hand."
The assessor gestured at the bloody knife that had opened Yusif's throat. It was wrapped in a strip of cloth and sitting on his desk.
"And we will show America that we need to do more."
As he stood beside True's desk, O'Hare could not stop fidgeting, his glance darting from steel-shuttered window to door to monitor.
True sighed. "What is it?"
"Well, there isn't much security outside that door, boss."
O'Hare was a man caught in a great machine. He didn't want to sacrifice himself to change the course of American life for many millions of its citizens under the guise of security. He just wanted to finish his shift in one piece, go home, and relax in front of the tube with a cold beer.
True swiveled his chair and looked up at O'Hare. "I made a deal with these men, governor."
"Yeah, but..." O'Hare hesitated, just a moment. "These guys are fucking fanatics, sir. You can't trust them. I'm out there every day, among them. Trust me on this."
True gave his head a weary shake even as he smiled. "These men are not unlike me. Willing to make sacrifices toward what each of us sees as the greater good. After their planned rebellion was discovered, they gave me their word they would do as I asked, and I told them they would be allowed to survive this night."
"But, sir, they don't"
"Quiet, O'Hare," the assessor said, turning back to the monitor. "Let us enjoy the show."
*
Samir stepped into a quiet corridor. The noise from outside was a muted din. There were three governors in the corridor, slumped on then floor, dead. There was a lot of blood. The throats of the dead gaped wide, muscles and vessels sliced through to the spine.
He saw motion at the end of the hall. Old Hanif stepped forward, a faint smile twisting his lips. Da'ud was with him, holding a length of wire. Both ends of the wire were fixed to four inches of wooden dowel.
"We have cleared the path, brother," Da'ud whispered.
Hanif gestured to a sturdy door. "In here," he breathed, "is the man True. The man who" He said something in Arabic.
"The man who tormented you," Da'ud said.
Hanif stepped closer and raised a hand. He held out a keycard.
Samir took it, and he also accepted the wire garrote from Da'ud.
Tucking the garrote in one pocket of his jumpsuit, Samir swiped the card in a slot. He reached out and opened the door to the assessor's office.
*
As they watched Samir enter the office, Hanif and Da'ud spoke quietly to each other.
"I hope Allah watches over him," Da'ud said.
Hanif set one hand on the younger man's shoulder. "He was the pawn of the infidels. He has become a pawn for our jihad. And through it all he shall be the pawn of Allah."
They waited a moment, and then followed the young American.
*
Samir stepped through the door and saw three things. The assessor True, sitting behind a desk. A flat screen TV on the wall showing the internment camp riot from security cameras, and O'Hare, the beefy governor, rushing at him with a glowing joystick.
O'Hare made his familiar move, lowering his arm and sweeping the joystick up, aiming for the gut or the balls.
Samir kicked wildly and connected with O'Hare's wrist.
The governor grimaced, the joystick falling to the floor.
True reached into a desk drawer and stood with a revolver in his hand, his expression a mixture of shock and anger as he watched Hanif and Da'ud enter the room.
Samir retrieved the joystick and waved it in O'Hare's face. The governor froze, enraged.
"You are not supposed to be here," the assessor said to the men standing behind Samir. "You gave me your word."
Hanif spoke in Arabic and Da'ud said, "The Quran allow us to and instructs us to lie and break any pact or promise made to the infidel in our fight to save the world and spread the light of Islam."
Samir looked from the Muslims to the assessor. "What's going on here?"
O'Hare turned and stepped closer to True's desk.
True shot Hanif once, Da'ud three times. The younger man was strong, hard to put down.
"Pick up the knife," True said. "I'm talking to you, Samir."
Samir and O'Hare exchanged a confused glance.
True spoke again, looking at the center of Samir's chest. "The next bullet out of his gun will go through your heart. Drop the joystick and pick up the knife."
Samir deactivated the stunner and tossed it behind him.
"This is all wrong," O'Hare said.
"Good boy," True said to Samir. He looked at O'Hare and frowned, the frown becoming a radiant smile. "Now pick up the knife, young man, and kill governor O'Hare."

I know, I haven't written anything in a while.
At least not that I've posted. Maybe, if and when I eventually finish what I'm working on now, and any of it isn't worth publishing (yes, I do have the good fortune to have contacts) then I'll post it on uber.
Yet I'm sitting here waiting for the next installment.
Apologies on not having rated the earlier episodes. But who can do better than what you've got already?

This is cool, Jack...though Hanif and Du'ad seemed to be, uh, pretty stupid if they didn't think True would have a gun. Unless it's part of their plan to get killed, but I don't see how that furthers their fundamentalist goals.
I'm feeling your lack-of-review pain. My last post got 13 reviews...and I think five of them are mine.
Suck it, Trebek!

MVA. Congratulations. While you have made your fair share of stupid formulaic hitwhore posts, they've all been of a decent length, and clearly there is a wealth of other stuff you are submitting. An MVA position well earned.

BTW, I was fast asleep 5 minutes ago.
I had a dream where a UFO or a liitle glowing ball of light probe-thingy outside my window shot me with a retard ray. All I could do was moan and groan like a drooling retard trying to call for help, like my throat and tongue were paralyzed.
Fucking weird.
'Was that before or after you joined Uber, McCallum?' Ha-ha. Can it.

I'm thinking of channging that excerpt. It isn't generating a whole lot of sales...
Maybe one of the chapters with excesive nekkidness, or the one where one guy rips off another guy's dick in the shower. I dunno.
Glad you liked it though.
