Session #2: "It Had To Be Jew" ~ A Tribute to JewToast

Personnel:
---------------
Dave: Voice, piano (arranged/sequenced in Finale)

Captain's Log:
--------------------
Okay, so I said that #2 would be "Baby On Board/Goodbye My Coney Island Baby", but I haven't quite finished mixing those down yet, so they'll be up tomorrow. For today's selection, here's a parody of a jazz classic for Mr. JewToast. I got the idea from SPT last week when I saw a couple of posts about "My 3 Favorite Jews."

So, Mr. JewToast, if you're still around Uber, here's your Sell-Out Theatre tribute.

NOTABLE MOMENT: note the labored efforts to sing and pronounce the phrasing like a Jew (i.e. terribly), especially in the last chorus.

Lyrics:
---------
*lavish piano intro, cut to Captain Thorns singing on top of piano in evening gown*

It had to be Jew, it had to be Jew
I wandered the coast, and found Mr. Toast
The kochleffl who could make me be true, the maven I'd do
Or even be glad porking his dad, screaming "A Broch!"
A Gezunta Moid might have celluloid
But JewToast would floss, he'd show her who's boss
And then they would screw
Ahf mir Gezogt, JewToast's a thrill
You Alter Kocker, I love ya still
It had to be Jew
It had to be Jew
It had to be Jew

*instrumental solo*

A Gezunta Moid might have celluloid
But JewToast would floss, he'd show her who's boss
And then they would screw
Ahf mir Gezogt, JewToast's a thrill
You Alter Kocker, I love ya still
It had to be Jew
It had to be Jew
It had to be Jew

Ahf mir Gezogt, JewToast's a thrill
You Alter Kocker, I love ya still
It had to be Jew
It had to be Jew
It had to be Jew

And before you say "this song doesn't rhyme!", here's a lexicon for those of you that don't speak Jewish/Yiddish (adapted from http://members.tripod.com/talk_jewish/id19.htm):

A Broch (pronounced, ah-BROOKH) - this is a curse, a plague. Like "Damn it!" but more so. A broch is a way of expressing disgust, misery, disaster.

A Gezunta Moid (pronounced, ah Geh-SOON-the moyd) - it literally means "a healthy girl," but there is a connotation beyond that. It's a girl who looks so healthy she is capable of unbelievable things. It's said when you don't want to talk too dirty but you're still thinking about sex. A gezunta moid means, what she could do to you requires a lot of health to do.

Ahf mir Gezogt (pronounced, ahf Meer geh-ZOKHT) - it translates roughly as "I wish I had that" or "It should only happen to me." If a woman's husband just bought her a gorgeous ring, its "Ahf mir gezogt." Or if someone else is making a better living than you or just bought a bigger car. It's a little less than total envy, total resentment, total hatred and jealousy.

Alter Kocker (pronounced, OLL-ter KOCK-er) - an alter kocker is a man who can no longer do something that he once could. He's an old guy, over the hill, past his prime. In literal terms, an alter kocker is from German and means "old defecator." It doesn't sound very nice in translation, but it's a common expression, and sounds gentler and more humorous in Yiddish conversation.

Kochleffl (pronounced, KOOCH-leffel) - a kochleffl is a busybody, a man- or woman-about-town.

Maven (pronounced, MAY-vin) - a maven is an expert, and it's something that every Jew thinks he is on every subject that exists.

Oh yea, I forgot about that.

Glad to hear it was helpful. It's a bit buggy at times, but it's pretty good overall. It's pretty damn powerful.

I liked this a lot. Who's dave? Is that you?

Also, I have something for you...

Email me: electrictoothsyndrome.at.gmail.com

and I'll send you a link to download a full version of Cool Edit Pro 2 (same as Adobe Audigy) so you won't have to worry about all those annoying organ thingies anymore.

Yeah, I am Dave. Better known as Captain Thorns around these parts. Don't sign my stuff with my real name much on Uber because it would confuse me with Davros too much, who always signs his stuff "Dave."

And you did send me CEP2 about a month ago, after I had released my Shenanigan Pie recording. It was extremely helpful on this! Thanks again for that. My buddied Korey and Paul swear by nTrack Studio, but as you can see (hear), I have a lot of difficulty with getting that software to do what I want it to do.

BTW, for those of you that missed it on Saturday (which is pretty much everyone), go listen to Session 1, "The Chipmunk Song": http://www.ubersite.com/m/82002.

This was great, but I have a question: what's with that organ-sounding thing (possibly an organ). The first two are on the left side, the last two on the right. I mean, they're in key, but they sound either random or like you forgot to mute the track when mixing down the audio.
-------------------------------------------------------

I have no idea WTF happened at those spots...tried three times to re-cut the piano track and it stuck in there...my guess is that it was a goof in the Finale software when I exported my arrangement sequence to WAV format.

My dear fellow, this was fantastic. I dare say there's a position for you available crooning me to sleep every night while I dine on liger delicacies and have my bits and pieces polished by several Playboy models simultaneously.

Money is a wonderful thing. The pick up line "Hi, I'm Jewtoast, and I have my own monkey butler" works just as well with the ladies as does "Hi, I'm Hugh Heffner".

It sounded like some of the lyrics were fast, or mushed, but that's probably because I'm listening to this at home.
-----------------

No, it's because I was trying to sing with a fake accent and was in a hurry, so yeah. it got a bit sloppy in parts. Yiddish/Jewish pronunciation is not the easiest...

Everyone knows that "Alter Cocker" is Method's real name.

I loved the piano work on this.
Hell, the lyrics were good too.

It sounded like some of the lyrics were fast, or mushed, but that's probably because I'm listening to this at home. The first time I heard Shenanigan Pie here I thought it sounded like ass, but then I listened to it at work and it was, of course, grand.
So I'll give it another go once I hit the salt mines and all will be well.

I believe this is further proof that my home speakers BAHLOW.
