Igneous Inside.
Pitt was right.
This place is horrible.
It's a bit of hell encased in wood and glass, as if the house itself is undead. Maybe the wood and shingle is nothing more than a mask and if I pull back the boards, I'll find rotting guts and decaying sinew.
I'm standing in a bedroom on the third floor. There's an open window behind me and it's letting heavenly wisps of fresh air in. It's giving my nostrils a break from the stench of dead things.
I have a particularly nasty Necro blade in my hand and I'm waiting for a woman with a hole in her stomach to come out of the bathroom. Her insides are in an oozing pile on the travesty of skin and bone that is her bed. I can hear her humming pleasantly as she does whatever she's doing in there, as if she were in the kitchen baking cookies, but she's not. She's a Necro of the undead variety and she's probably stitching herself back up.
I guess Martini's boys put up a bit of a fight cuz it looks like she took a full-on shotgun blast to her center.
I would rather have come in through an empty room but the place is a fortress. Every door on the ground floor is locked, every window on the first and second is barred.
I searched for half an hour or more before I saw the wisp of curtain from her window, and the sturdy drainpipe running down the side of the building, just feet away from the window.
I climbed the best I could to the balcony and edged up to the window in time to see that the curtains were made of tanned flesh. A thin dead woman stood in the middle of the room. She nonchalantly pulled wet grey intestines and organs from the gaping hole in her middle, to fall unceremoniously onto her bed, as if they were nothing more than a pair of old socks, then un-strapped the knife from her waist, set it on the mass of fused bone that serves as her dresser, and retreated into the bathroom.
I was gonna leave her be. I was gonna move on. The plan was to try to keep a low profile until I found the men I need to find, but then I looked at the dolls on the shelf. My eyes fell on the grayish blue baby sitting in the middle of them, and it looked back and gurgled wetly.
Pitt was arrogant and ignorant to think no harm could come from letting me do what I may.
The door opens and she's standing there in all her pale scarred glory. Her hair is full and grey. Her features are sharp yet delicate. Finely sculpted lips part to let out a question, or condemnation, but none comes, as the barbed blade hits her dead center in the throat.
It goes in with a wet crunch, and then rips as I twist it hard.
Her eyes go wide in recognition of what I've done, and desperate hands make to claw at my eyes, but I wrench the blade free and show her the mess of flesh, cartilage and bone that used to carry the fetid breath from her shriveled lungs to her filthy mouth, then kick her hard to the floor.
She gurgles, kicks, and shoots a bony arm under the bed. The room fills with the sound of metal sliding on leather, and when her hand returns, there's a short sword held in it. The blade is of the same design as the one in my hand. It's barbed and sharp, and the handle is a polished femur with runes burnt into it.
Her head turns back to me and her yellow eyes are slits of rage, but there's something else there two. There's pain in them, and the knowledge of it spurs me into action.
My foot comes down hard and her elbow gives way with a sharp crack. She opens her mouth to scream but can't, and then I'm on her, as the thing on the shelf, that's more than a fetus yet less than a baby, quivers and mewls.
I'm in a rage. I'm thinking of unheard screams in forgotten places. I'm thinking of blood pools curdling on office floors, and innocence stolen at birth.
My anger is a barbed blade and it's punching its way in and out of her in a blind furry until she's nothing but a mess of ripped flesh, and the red grey sludge that passes for undead blood.
The world turns to guts and grunts, and I almost lose myself in the horrible wonder of it all, but the sound of an enraged shout pulls me back from madness, and I'm sitting atop the quivering mess that used to be a woman, and searching the room in a panic with my eyes.
I've been to loud. I lost control.
Was I shouting? Was I screaming as I tore into her?
They know I'm here now. They're coming for me...
No. There... low on the wall near the bed, a vent, voices sliding out of it, tinny yet clear.
"... No Luis! The council has no right!"
"We are the oldest of you."
"Your rules do not apply in this place, in this world!"
"The Council's edicts govern us all Paullos, regardless of what oceans might stand between our houses."
They're here. They're both here somewhere.
"I have no need for the edicts of prehistoric fools, too frail to venture from catacombs deep. Go back to them and tell them the Americas are mine. Tell them you have failed and the ritual will be completed despite their flaccid threats."
"It must not!"
The sound of something heavy and fleshed slamming into something solid, like a fist on a desk, sounds out as I do my best to stop panting.
"Go back before I lose my patience."
"Paullos, hear me. The girl must be finished. The ritual must not be attempted. It is doomed to failure, and the council has already chosen another more fitting for becoming."
"Who? You? Tell me. Do you stand on the Councils behalf or your own interests' cousin?"
"I do as the council commands. You know this."
"Do I? Tell me. Did the Council command that you insult my hospitality? Did the council command that you bring a seer to my daughter in secret, to fill her mind with lies, to have her defy my will and destroy my destiny?"
No answer... at least none that I can make out, and then Pallance's voice again.
"I visited your quarters today Luis. I found the body of a Seer there. I found pictures of a man. The same man who's face she drew in her diary every day for a month. The same man who my son tells me, she visited the day she tried to take her life. What falsehoods did you have implanted in her head? You broke the pact Luis! A Penance has taken the life of like blood!"
"Nonsense! The girl lying in the basement found no harm by my hand! Your own son will attest to that, and even if I did decide to choke the life from her, it would make no matter. She is Succubus, she is a blasphemy and a danger. She is the opposite of everything that we are and is schooled in our ways by her fool of a father! YOU WILL NOT complete the ritual. You don't have the book. You don't have her piece of the chain, and there have been events set in motion that can only lead to your demise if you continue!"
Another fist slamming into something, and the crash of furniture.
"I have the Necrosiad Luis. It too resided in your room. I have it and I will find the ring or have another made. I will do as I will, and when I am done, you will come to me from across the seas on bended knee."
"As long as the girl lives, your claim to the Necrosiac destiny will remain unrecognized."
"And if I take her life, I break the trinity, and cannot complete the ritual."
"You cannot complete the ritual if she lives. She is not of the art, and fades as we speak."
"She will live or I will have my revenge on you."
"The Cleric tires Paullos. Your daughter fades."
"Pray you're wrong cousin. I too have taken liberties with our friendship. The boy you so covet is mine now. He resides in a cage in the basement, under guard. If Dalia dies, I will have blood as payment. I will not dishonor the pact. I will not bring harm to you, be you fool or traitor, but I will dine on tender flesh if my daughter fails."
"FOOL! The boy must not be harmed!"
Silence again, then the sound of liquid and clinking glass.
"If only you were as passionate about the wellbeing of my daughter to begin with."
"I see intent in your face old man... leader of the Americas. Speak your mind."
"There is a woman at my daughter's side. She is a Seer, much like the one I found nailed to the bottom of your bed. You will tell her the lies you had implanted into my Dalia, so that she can remove them."
"Dara Dalia Penance. That name will destroy you."
"Then the Councils problems will be solved."
"And if I comply?"
"The boy goes free. I eject you from my house, and you take your report back to Paris for fools to do with as they will."
"Take me to him. I would know that he is unharmed."
"My word is assurance enough."
"Take me to him."
A door opens and then closes and all I can hear is the whisper of rotting air.
The basement.
They're going to the basement.
The knife in my hand pins the mess beneath me to the floor, as does the sword, and I stand.
There's a closet here. It opens with a squeak and it's full of lace and bone. It glows red in the light of my match then springs to flickering yellow life as I give the fire a new home.
Fire to purge and clean.
Fire to kill what should be dead.
Tommygun on its sling, Roscoe in my hand, and the door to the hall slides open.
Something moves in the shadows at the far end. It grunts then turns on more appendages than I can count, grunts again, and then hurtles my way, and that old rage comes back.
My blood's up again. It's boiling; turning the world familiar red, and before I know it I'm charging too.
Whatever's coming for me, I'll meet it. No more turning away.

Your rating on this post was more of an insult than calling you a jackass. Look before you leap, right. You knocked some poinyts off while not knowing what you were talking about, hence: Jackass
If you can't take someone calling you a name, you may be on the wrong site chief.
Petty flame war indeed. pffft
Sorry Snark, I'll quit now.

Okay, that was an error on my part. I did, however, +2 the post twice thereafter to make up for that, and just to be on the safe side, I'll do it again.

There is plenty more, it's part of a long series dipshit. The Igneous title has stayed the same on all of them. Jackass...

Here's a thought. Instead of being a confrontational asshole, you could have left out the insults and simply informed me that there was, indeed, more.
