It started when I thought "Insomnia brings me closer to God". I thought that and said it out loud to my friends playing D2 because I enjoy talking to people who aren't listening to me. But, God and Insomnia, yes. Why? Because "it makes me ask him to kill me", I said. And this got me thinking about suicide.
Suicide is crap. Lets face it. It's bullshit. If you kill yourself, you're so worthless, well, whatever. I guess I wouldn't hold it against you if I met you in heaven someplace and you tell me you offed yourself. But it's not for me. "What do I want, then" I thought.
And some thoughts later, I found myself saying to these same friends, "I wish I was born in the 30's". And then I corrected myself, because, see, I wish I was my age, now, but in the 30's. So really I wished I was born in 1910. But yeah, the 30's. See back then Communism was alive and strong. And so was Fascism. And Anarchism and Socialism and Catholic-Conservatism and all kinds of isms which are now replaced by, mostly, just j-izm. Politics these days is really just a streak of splooge on the wall compared to the good old days. A kid go pick his side and put on a uniform and die fighting. Now, what is there? Join the US military? Fight the terrorists they say. Fuck the terrorists. I don't have any beef with them. Justice? I don't want to die for justice.
Is this really what I think? I'm not sure. I guess I just don't buy Nationalism. America is not my tribe. A warrior dies for his tribe. And I think I could have found a good tribe back in the 30's. That's what I'm saying.
But what do I know? I don't have any scars or wounds. I don't know how shitty it is to live in a trench. The worst I've ever been hurt in a fighting situation was an accidental busted lip during Judo. But I HAVE fought. I know what it feels like to be subdued by violence. And it's intense. It is murder. There is murder behind even the most sportsmanlike compitition. But this isn't the same thing as warfare. See, for all the brutality of modern warfare, a gun is still more civilized than a machete. Hands, knives, stabing, bashing--that's all murder, fighting. It's from the sexual urge. To rape, and to kill your competing rapists. Why are most murders committed by men? Why do boys fight more than girls? Is it becuase society teaches us this? Fuck. It's how sex works. Men fight over women. There. But a gun is civilized. Warfare is not about murder. Warriors meet on the battlefield, having already forfeited their lives to the war Gods. So there's not even real lives to be murdered, see? So society can help in this way. Even back to the man woman shit. It can help there too. Instead of reinforcing it can go the other way. Feminism....that's when it all started to go wrong.
Wait, it's not what you think. Growing up with a strong single mother and older sisters, Feminism was the first -ism I belived in. My world view was finally fucked up, finally wretched from it's boyish-ideal state, when I started questioning my feminist foundations. When I found out the obvious truth that women want to get fucked. That they even dream and fantasize about getting raped. Gangraped even. I'm still a feminist. I don't have some kind of fucked up view of sexuality (well....Hah, who knows). I mean, I don't hate women. But it's this kind of shit that made the world not simple and just reinforced my apathy.

Odd, rambling post but I liked it. I'm an insomniac too but I see it as an advantage. While the rest of you assholes are wasting your lives away sleeping, I'm getting shit done.
Also, the whole thing about guns being civilized? It may be a nicer, faster way to die but it's not an honorable way to kill someone in my opinion. I'd rather see you kill another person with your bare hands, a blunt object, a knife, or something where you at least have to get close to the other person in order to kill them because it gives them a fighting chance to overpower or kill you instead. It's unfair to kill someone that doesn't stand a chance against you.
Oh and suicide isn't total bullshit. Some people NEED to die like stupid people, whiny bitches, people who are suffering and have no chance at getting better, inconsiderate assholes, annoying people, and umm.... stupid people. Also anyone who tries to kill themselves by slitting their wrists or any other method that they may not die from because they're just trying to get attention deserves to die too. It's better for these people to take their own lives than for any of us to go to jail for it so I always suggest suicide when I meet any of them.
