She sits on the bed, anxiously tapping her foot. It's been two hours; he should be here by now. Staring out into the kitchen she sees the half-molded food burnt to the stove and the sink over flowing with dishes, the flies circling above, seemingly unaware of the awful stench. She looks at the clock. He is late, but that's okay. When he gets here everything will be okay. She's waited patiently, hungering, yearning to see the love of her life that she's missed so desperately. Every moment without him is hell and a constant reminder of how much he means to her.
There is a knock at the door, and she feels her heart pound faster and faster as she runs to the door. She whips the door open and her heart leaps into her throat, but her smile is cut short when she sees it is not him. "This is not right", she says," you're too early. He isn't here yet." She begs and pleads for them to wait. "Just wait until he gets here. He will explain everything and it will be fine. He should be here any minute, he promised to come and fix this."
But they show no sign of compassion for the girl. They at once lead her back into the bedroom, where they undress her and prepare to each have a go at her. She cries and moans and screams for them to stop, to wait for him. He can fix this, he always fixes everything for her. But this only encourages them and they laugh and squeal with delight as she squirms and struggles to break free. She throws up on the floor but no one seems to notice. She stares blankly at the green and yellow bile in front of her, waiting for this nightmare to be over. When they are done they leave as quickly as they came, and she is left broken on the floor to sob and shake.
As she lies, cold, naked, and shivering, she hears footsteps up the stairs. She wipes her eyes and sits up when she hears the knock at her door. He's here, she thinks to herself. I knew he would come, he always does. I knew he loved me too much not to come. He will make it all okay I know it.
As she lets the man into her apartment, a look of pity comes over his face as he sees her standing there. She is wrapped in a sheet, weak and exhausted. "You're late" she mumbles, but is too happy to scold him. Without a word, he walks over to the table, grabs the money, drops down a small bag and leaves.
Tears stream down her face as she holds her lighter under the spoon, loads up, and releases. She relaxes and a smile spreads across her face. She is happy. She knew he would come and make everything okay. He always does.
