After hearing that "Big Momma's House 2" had grossed more than any other movie in the nation, I decided to go see the film with a couple of old friends. The three of us went to the theater fully prepared to ridicule what we expected would be a gut-wrenching flop. Yet, perhaps predictably, all that we that we ended up getting was a hefty serving of mediocre comedy reminiscent of "House Guest" and "Mrs. Doubtfire," along with some unabashed child pornography.
In the movie Martin Lawrence plays an FBI agent working undercover as the fat nanny Big Momma, who concomitantly coaches 8-year-old cheerleader Carrie Fuller (Chloe Mortez) and her little friends how to dance while also rescuing the US government's entire intelligence database from terrorists and teenage hackers. When Big Momma first sees the youngsters in a gym gyrating their hips to Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back," he makes a brief comment that what he sees is reprehensible. Indeed it was, but rather than speaking on behalf of stuffy morality Lawrence instead preaches that the children are moving around too much and that the only thing they actually need to do is stoop down and vigorously shake their buttsthere is the path to victory.
This sickening story climaxes into a cheerleading routine that literally has little girls in short skirts bending over in front of the camera to the sounds of Nitty's "Hey Bitty." While little girls expose themselves, we get lyrics like, "I'm navigating through your body like a navigator. Can I lick you up and down like now and later?" Moviegoers are made to molest the children as a crowd of "parents" ecstatically applauds the actHooray for pedophilia! Hooray for Rome!
One could even easily detect subconscious techniques employed by the producers to blend the degradation of little girls with that of mature women. This occurs prominently when Big Momma drafts Carrie's mother Leah (Emily Procter) to give the cheerleaders a grown-up lesson in ass shaking. Big Momma spends the next scene, right after "playing" with the mother and children, in a spa fondling the breasts of supermodels and instructing them to "give it up night and day" for their husbands. Back and forth it goes, from the childish treatment of sex and to the sexual treatment of children. But hey, even family-porn has the right to a spot in the market, right?
Unlike the homosexual love story "Brokeback Mountain," there was no outcry against "Big Momma's House 2" because network editors consciously dictate who has a voice in major media and, consequently, what different sectors of our population are alarmed by. This highly offensive movie slipped under the public radar because our common sense of decency has been molded so methodically that it does not even matter what images are put on the screens anymore. Today, thanks to careful engineering, the only way you can teach a girl how to dance is by bending her over and shoving her face in the dirtlove it or leave it, folks.
In truth, the entertainment industry has not simply "developed" over recent years, rather it has grown in such a way as to actually overtake the very realities of our culture. Tycoons like Rupert Murdoch have amassed fortunes by selling pornography and bloodlust under a banner of social liberationFoxwhile simultaneously preaching traditional moralsFox News. Under such a model, those with corporate or political pull dictate not only some aspects of our social arguments but indeed the very foundations of all conversation.
In spite of the recent monopolization, manipulation and simulation of all mankind's culture, a large portion of humanity is presently outraged by the consuming abstraction, here in the US as well as internationally. We all witnessed this over February when millions of Muslims rioted after their dear prophet was made into one of Bugs Bunny's sour bedfellows. In that portion of the world, and in the Christian churches of America's heartland, there is an outcry against what our leaders have done to truth and what they have left in its place. Universally, those sensitive to the failings of illusion demand the return of autonomous culture.
Sadly, there is today a question of whether anything can even come of our protests, yet the fact remains that, as long as we have faith in those who degrade our honor and confuse our wisdom, the greater sum of us will be subjugated. As long as abusive idiocy sells tickets and pundits control public opinion, there will be endless Big Momma's Houses, just as Lawrence suggests at the end of his film. We must all be conscious of the fact that, until we stop funding and saluting the illusions of perverted despots, every prophet will be crucified and all our daughters, regardless of age, will be communal whores of Moloch.

Sexual awareness amongst the young should be encouraged and celbrated. One day, perhaps in as little as 4 years, those children are going to become objects of lust for their male peers. This is not a dirty or wrong thing, it is quite natural and healthy.
So they should learn to shake their booties, and be confident in their shaking. They should not feel stifled or repressed.

Please stop the deletirious attempts at sounding as though
you are educated. Your reprehensible profundity is exceeded
only by your lack of cogency. Many people out here are far
beyond your intellectual level, and you make most of us ill. . . . .

Have you ever heard of the "Bigger Jones" phenomenon? He was the African American protaganist in a book called "Native Son". He essentially raped and killed a (white) teen girl, and was later tried and put to death. When we had to read it in a college American Lit course, our professor asked what the class thought of Bigger's punishment. The majority, including myself, agreed with the punishment. He was guilty, and no matter of povery or racial politics justified his actions.
The professor put down the book and said it was always interesting to judge the impact the effect the book had on the class. The book was written in the forties. When he first read it in a seventies college class, his entire class was pro-Bigger. Same when he got his first tenureship in the '80s. What about Bigger's victim? What about the girl's life and dignity? Well, as they saw it, it was Bigger striking back at his ancestor's opressors; kind of like the rebels blowing up the Death Star. That girl was white, and as such she was guilty. Until now. It took over twenty years for people to finally step forward and say "I don't care what race you are. This is idiotic."
I think you could draw the same comparison to Martin Lawrences' movies. I think you could draw the same comparison to rap music or certain areas of the sports or video game industries. They are fields where African American males have been allowed to degrade women. The have been given the same amazing defense. If you disagree with what they say, you are accused of not disagreeing with a message, but of taking issue with their skin color; with over a century of engrained guilt. Is America finally getting to the point where it can see this scam for what it is? Is it finally getting to the point where we can tell Bigger, as well as Big Mama, to sit their fat ass down and shut up? I'd like to think we are, but I doubt it.
