Please, I can be the first to admit I made a mistake. I can be a bit judgmental at times, almost to the point of stubborness, but I don't consider myself a black and white person. I'm capable of seeing complex issues in shades of grey, but I sometimes judge too harshly, especially American policies.
I've come a long way on Ubersite from an anti-American flamer (in more ways than one) who could barely speak English. Like Celine Dion, I learned English, but still retain proudly my French heritage. That's what I'm making this post about, as a bit of an apology to everybody.
To the point, I was talking to Jack McCallum on AIM the other day. McCallum represents everything bad in America to me, a conservative, Bush-supporting, flag-waving freak, and I have consistently -2ed his posts. I considered myself better than him, because I lived in Canada. I also hated that he was prejudiced against those effete individuals who by some course of their genetics or preference, were somewhat effeminate. Just because I wear tight jeans and own many pairs of shoes does not make me a homosexual.
Canada to me is a great country, but after a long talk with Jack, I came to see the American point of view. Bush isn't that bad of a guy, really. He did show strength against terror after 9/11, and invading Iraq was definitely the right choice. I mean, who knows if Sadaam Hussein could have been training terrorists? President Bush has secured our freedoms and liberties by curtailing our rights ever so slightly, and that was the main gist of the talk with Jack.
I wasn't a big fan of Bush, but now I can see what people like McCallum and Stabkill mean. I'd like to apologize to both of them, from the bottom of my Quebecois heart.
Canada's a good country, but it's not perfect. People are almost TOO liberal here, what with all the hate-speech laws, welfare and other such things. Coupled with that most Canadians live within 50 miles of the US border, and NAFTA, we might as well be the same country.
By the way, ETS, you are a tool. Pull your head out of your ass and open your damn eyes. There is NO global warming, the US is the greatest country in the world, and America should be the guardia of liberties all over the world, whether the UN says so or ont. The liberals are leading this world straight to hell in a handbasket, any god-loving patriotic American should cast their votes Republican in November 2006.
Thank you, Jack, for helping me see the right way. I can still retain my proud French-Canadian heritage, but also support true patriotic values.

Everyone seems to forget that if Saddam DID have WMDs then surely when the worlds largest power is invading is the time to use them?

I think it's unfortunate, Caul, that you had rather be inflamatory with all the name-calling than have a good debate about relevant world events, which is really all I ever hope for on a political post.
I know your comments here are half tongue-in-cheek, but you do harbor some resentment of me I think you should think twice about sometime.
I'm not all that bad. And if you really READ the kinds of things I say in my posts, my philosophies aren't really that different than people like Stabkill and Jack McC. The problem is, all the bullshit issues and preconceptions get in the way of any real understanding that we all want the same things out of our government - leadership.
