We salute you Rene Preval...
Posted Feb. 16, 2006 - After a week of violence and deaths over suspicions of election fraud in Haiti, interim government and election officials agreed Thursday to declare Rene Preval president in the first election in six years.
The Final Decision
"We have reached a solution to the problem," said Max Mathurin, president of the Provisional Electoral Council. "We feel a huge satisfaction at having liberated the country from a truly difficult situation."
Prime Minister Gerard Latortue agreed.
"We acknowledge the final decision of the electoral council and salute the election of Mr. Rene Preval as president of the Republic of Haiti," Latortue told The Associated Press.
The Feb. 7 election erupted into rage in the county's capital Port-au-Prince when backers of Preval suspected that election fraud was being carried out to deprive him of the 51.5 percent vote he needed for a straight-out victory. Preval, 61, had vowed to fight the results if officials insisted on holding a March runoff.
Preval, who is strongly supported by the country's poor, was president from 1996 to 2001 and served as prime minister in 1991 in the government led by ousted leader Jean-Bertrand Aristide.
Dumped Ballots
Meanwhile, vote counting was brought to a screeching halt Wednesday after U.N. guards found smashed ballot boxes, marked ballots, bags to carry returns from the election and other election materials in a fly-infested garbage dump just five miles north of Port-au-Prince.
Later in the day the United Nations in Haiti issued a statement disputing the discovery of ballot boxes urging "the Haitian authorities to investigate fully and prosecute anyone found guilty of this apparent grave breach of the electoral process."
The discovery troubled U.N. officials because the bags were not supposed to be thrown out. "They're supposed to be kept," U.N. official Catherine Sung, an electoral adviser who works at the main vote tabulation centre, told the AP.
After images of the dumped ballots were shown on TV, U.N. spokesman David Wimhurst said that someone may have dumped the ransacked ballots to create an appearance of fraud.
Shall we take a look at Preval's prior terms? His government was marred by political deadlock. In 1999, following a series of disagreements with deputies, he declared that parliament's term had expired and began ruling by decree.
Let us also note that he supported uprisings against the government prior to his term. He was part of the military government of Haiti in the 70's with no avail. Since then he has had a prominent relationship with any government in any form.
If he had ruled by decree before, I may simply suggest that this man wants to be a dictator under the faux of a new democratic government. This man, may I remind you, has supported the violence surrounding all of his previous stints in government. I smell black on black crime.
I forget what the country is that is real close to Haiti. Oh, yah, now I remember. It's Cuba. Let us please, oh please, have another fascist to dick around the United States. He does support the U.N. which is about the only relieving trait of this man. In case you forgot, the U.N. is U.S.A.'s bitch.
Thank you, Rene Preval, for giving the black community a good name.
Let's take a look at his picture...
.....appears to me that he has too much time on his hands.

He may have too much time on his hands, but he certainly owns quite a few helicopters.
