South Dakota's legislation just passed a bill banning all types of abortion(except when the woman's life is threatened).

I knew this was coming with the new, more conservative supreme court and all, but couldn't they have waited until the U.S. citizens had a chance to get through all the current shit going on right now?

I mean, what's the deal? I don't want to hear about dog shit fuel, and Cheney's hunting accident as much as the next guy, but did South Dakota really think the media needed a new pinata to wack the shit out of?

Guess where this picture was taken for infinite +2s
ps. there's a hint in the picture.

Hwy, I just got a brilliant idea; why don't we all be accepting of other peoples' ideals for once? There's a reason why this country is called the "Land of the FREE." Assholes.

I can just see it now. Soon, gay marriage will be banned, too. We're regressing. Soon, we'll be owning homosexuals as slaves, if we keep it up.

as much as that blows, at least they left in the proviso for the woman's life. some states don't even want to do that. people will just hop state lines now.

Oh surely this will get shot down on appeal. I don't know anything about South Dakota, but this is probably some kind of political pandering. I did hear that it also applies to all forms of emergency contraception because supposedly they have decided that life begins at ovulation and/or ejaculation.

I doubt anyone from South Dakota is on here, the entire population of the state is what 10 or 20.

At this rate women won't be able to vote and I will have slaves in about 20 years.

excellent...

Seriously I don't know dick about Judges in South Dakota, anyone from there know if this is going to reach the supreme court?

Anyone know how they defined "health of the mother" or how many doctors it will take to make it okay?

Does this cover the day after pill (Loki Wal-Mart is now selling it)?

This is the way we settle things in this country. We can't take issues head on because that will never work so we chip chip chip away at them until everything is so eroded that the whole political process is completely ineffective.

think I'm wrong?

The wide right is taking its usual war on women on one little right at a time. They know that a majority of Americans are pro-choice so they find the most extreme cases, the grey areas. They change it from intact dilation and extraction to partial birth abortion. Oh NOES they're killing baaabies. Then they go after emergency birth control not by fighting it legally, but by strategically placing officials in the FDA to keep it from being approved. Then, when it finally get approved, they take steps to ensure that even if a woman can get a prescription for it, she won't be able to find a pharmacy to get it filled.

chip chip chip

The left does it with the death penalty. They know that a majority of Americans are for the death penalty so they rattle the cages until they find the one or two innocent people on death row and plaster the story all over the media. Then they go after the method of killing, not the actual law. Oh sure we still have the death penalty but we can't have the condemned suffering so we can't use the electric chair, hanging, gas, lethal injection, and naturally we can't line them up against a wall and shoot them. So what do we do, bore them to death with endless appeals?

I can just see it now. Soon, gay marriage will be banned, too. We're regressing. Soon, we'll be owning homosexuals as slaves, if we keep it up. I, for one, will forevermore wear a T-shirt five sizes too big for me with "What's the worst that could happen if two idiots met on the streets?" painted on one side, and "They could procreate... like they just did. Free the gay men, they're humans too." emblazoned on the back. Of course, I'll have to ignore the inanely jeering shouts of "FAG-LOVER!" from random co-workers.

Maybe I'm getting in a bit over my head...

===============================================================================

What a crock. I hope that was intended sarcastically.
================================================================================

It was. But the "What's the worst that could happen if two idiots met on the street? They could procreate" has been a... Well, I guess you can't call it a joke... Well, I've used it for quite a while. but the part about accepting other people's ideals is completely serious; Bush has fucked this country up too much during his reign. Yes, I know that's not the right word, but I did that on purpose.

What, you had an 8 a 4 and an 8 while all we had was an 8 in 28 years.

I'm sure in there somewhere there would be 1 or 2 Republicans, but they wouldn't stay long.

In 2008, I betcha Gore comes back and wins. With either Edwards oe Hillary as his Veep.

And either one of those two would win elections when they came up in 2016.

You have to imagine Barak Obama would run as the Veep for that election, and if in some strange case were a Republican to win, he'd be the odds on favorite Dem choice in 2020.

The problem with the Republican chances in the 2008 election (and probably further beyond) is that no GOP member in the spotlights right now (except McCain) is as magnetic as Bush was. (stress that word, even I kind of liked in him 2K, and I did like him after 9/11, because he seemed down to earth)

As mush as I hate to say it, the 2008 election is going to be all about star-power, and right now, the Democrats have all the name recognition.

Unless McCain or Powell run in 2008, it'll be a runaway.

I honestly think that we will see the Supreme Court decide that the issue of abortion will be kicked back to the individual states. Personally I have no love for irresponsible dipshits who have an abortion as a matter of convienence. Honestly in the age of birth control and sex ed this just should not take place as often as it does. On the other hand I think that a woman who has been raped, molested, or is in some sort of life threatening situation should have the right to choose.

Regardless abortion is mainly about the all-mighty-dollar. I personally find it hilarious that the Democratic party that loves minorities sooooo much whole heartedly supports a practice that is primarily used by minorities. Don't believe me? How many Planned Parenthood clinics do you have in your neighborhood?

If ETS were so inclined he could cook up an awesome conspiracy theory about this

Sorry then, clarifications are in order.

1. bush is a cocksucker. ----> Agreed.

2. abortion is good in cases of danger to the mother and rape/incest. ----> Agreed.

3. there were changes of leadership in both Vietnam and Korea. ----> Those were not really "wars" in the legal sense. Korea was a UN action in which we were a part of, and Vietnam was never declared as war by Congress (which remember, is the only political branch that can actually declare war) Sure, they OK'd spending for it, but there was no congressional resolution for war.

4. Limbaugh is a cocksucker. But not gay. ----> Oh no, dude is a pillow biter. Look at how vitrolic he is against gays. It's like the mayor of Spokane who was MAJORLY anti-gay in public, but browsed gay chatrooms and offered internships to people he met on those boards. I betcha at home, Rush has a gay porn collection like Patrick Swayze had kiddie porn in Donnie Darko.

What is?

The dual citizenship joke, or the Rush is gay?

Because I am dead serious, even a 6-3 Court would overturn the law as written because it does not allow for abortion in cases of rape or incest.

Even my Dad, Mr. SuperRepublican-ISupportRush-BushIsGreat, agrees that abortion should be legal in cases of form impregnations.

I can't even fathom why someone would think it would be prefectly OK for a woman to bring to term a child who is the product of rape.

Few things.

1) Roe vs Wade (from what I can remember) didn't say that "Every woman can have an abortion" it struck down law saying "Abortion is illegal"

So, even with this, and even if this does (and will) go to the Supreme Court, and even though the "conservative right" has the 5 justices it would need, they would STILL shoot down this law AS IT STANDS CURRENTLY because it does not allow for abortion in cases of rape or incest. It is specifically worded to ONLY allow abortion in cases of medical need. That will trip them up.

(Oh, and even as a liberal, I am against wonton, willy-nilly abortion just because the girl 'didn't want to get pregnant')

2) I can not wait for December 2008 or January 2009, after a Democrat wins the White House, for a "national emergency" to happen where Dubbya tries to say "Sorry, can't change leaders now. National crisis. Never changed Presidents during major wars. Just look at FDR."

3) I plan on applying for dual citizenship to Canada so that when that happens, I can just drive across the border, show the dudes with M-16's my passport, and get the hell out of the way of the killing.

4) Rush Limbaugh is a fucking faggot.

That is a profound sentence. Pro-choicers just got bitch-slapped by the political process. Thats too bad, its the way things go. It has nothing to do with the new "conservative supreme court." Its what the majority voted for. And the way you make it sound that the legislation of South Dakota needs to respect the goddamn media really makes my blood boil. Fuck the media, buddy. You really misunderstood what I was saying. I hate the media. That was my point. All we're going to hear about for months/years, is this. I knew this was going to happen, I'm not saying it shouldn't have happened, I just wanted a little breather from all thats been going on recently.

I'm trying to keep my point of view on this subject from dictating what I write.

but you were right on one thing: The picture was taken(not by me, some zombie dude) at the most recent Pro-life march in SF.

Therefore digdug wins the prize, automatic and eternal +2 on his future posts*

*DISCLAIMER*: By "automatic and eternal +2", the writer(Oxymoron) refers to a mandatory +2 on each new post written by "digdug". This however does not imply that the post is worth +2, or that the writer(Oxymoron) is obligated to give more than 1(one) +2 per new post unless he(Oxymoron) feels like it.
