I think the only rule adjustment I would make, coming out of this is to not include a contest in your post. I think Uberboard is fine and is actually a risk as you may draw unwanted attention. I'm just looking for fairness so if there's a percieved infraction I'd rather address it right away.

"I hope you like my chambers." The Emperor HighVoltage commented to ghola as he stepped out of a shadow. Ghola drew her katsuri short sword but hestitated to attack when she saw that Voltage had a katana dangling at his side.
"You may be a ninja, but my samurai ways are strong enough to defeat you." The Emperor Voltage said as ghola took another step forward.
"Many men have fallen to my blade and sweet sweet ninja pussy. What makes you think you can stand up to it?" ghola asked threateningly. The Emperor laughed dismissively.
"Oh dear little ninja, I have the advantage in this fight. For you see, my sperm is the sperm of god. They can impregnate a woman at 30 feet without sexual intercourse...Infact. My dear little ninja, I believe you have been impregnated by standing in my presence." The Emperor said, and ghola felt inside herself the tiny tingle of a sperm finishing the marathon dash up the Fallopian way.
"Oh noes...." She muttered to herself and she leapt forward to attack. The Emperor Voltage drew his katana and the two blades met with a loud clang. The pair danced back and forth, ghola's blade making quick cutting motions but being batted away by the katana Voltage weilded in long whipping motions.
"HOW COULD YOU GET ME PREGNATE?!?! HOW CAN I BE A NINJA NOW?!?!" Ghola cried out in frustration. Voltage laughed and knocked ghola's sword out of her hand.
"Consider me the donor, and the abortion clinic." He said and then kicked ghola in the uterus. Now she was sterile and able to be a great ninja warrior who could drop even the mightiest man with her fantastic pussy and have no fear of child birth.
"You have done me a great service Emperor, how can I repay you?" Ghola said bowing her head slightly, as she is a woman of honor and knows that one service must be repaid with another.
The Emperor Voltage grinned.

Okay, I'm back from two hours of meetings now and find this whole debacle...
As for my two cents, which has been requested: Brdn_Nkd, it's your call. Circe doesn't seem to care either way, as stated below. I like the idea of giving her the bye.
In my humble defense, I only had one real hit from my Uberboard linkwhorishness anyway; it didn't do anything to dramatically affect things. Also, I think you said somewhere in an earlier post that you weren't planning on adjusting any averages for the contest, excepting extreme cases. Since nothing really *happened* to my post, I don't see it as extreme. I guess the lesson learned out of this is another rule to determine for future contests.
Other question is, is it really fair to just adjust one set of entries and not all the others? Other matchups might otherwise be affected too if adjustments were applied.
But, whatever you decide, man.
And, if I make it into the next round, just know that I have a marvellous takedown planned should I face off with Orgasmatwat.

I think it should be left to Capt' and Circe. I'm not going to scroll through the reviews, but I don't recall the woman having any problem with what he did. I didn't really think it was that much of a big deal myself.
The contest could have opened him up to just as much bad reviewing as good, and as for posting on Uberboard, well we saw how that worked for WillZone in the hitwhoring department. Admirably, it just dropped the rating on the linked post well below what it had been. He took a gamble to put the link up there, it didn't necessarily guarantee any kind of rating, or even hits.
Not a big deal if you ask me. Which you did.
On the bye thing below I was just kidding, I still didn't like the idea of someone progressing without having to write in one round. But giving it to a previous loser is cool by me. There are a lot of good writers in this comp and it's good to see someone get to post another entry either way.

drama drama! Who is a genius with the averages of ratings and shit. I'm particularly looking for concurance from Thorns and Circe. If I take only unique ratings on thorn's post I have fourteen ratings and come up with an adjusted rating of 1.71 which would, unless something changes between now and noonish, make circe the wiener.
I have not seen other posts where an adjustment seemed necessary so unless I hear someone bitch this is the only match up I'm adjusting.

We'll see how it goes, Brdn. I may shoot myself in the foot, as I have a rhythm for a song in my head that I may base my post around, but, of course, it could fall short with people as they wouldn't be privy to the tune and beat I used.
I didn't much like our title, either. Not a ton of wiggle room.
As far as the bye goes, I'm up for it or I'm not. Part of me thinks that giving the person with the highest rated post a bye to the final round is nice, as hopefully it would inspire people to go all out and write something strong enough to carry them through. But giving it to the highest rated loser is a nice concession, even if it does result in a three-way dance at the end.

I think that the poster should either link this post after submitting their story, or both competitors should link each other's posts in their own submissions. Why should I drum up hits for my opponent just because they've posted before me? Why should he or she do that just for me if I posted first?
Either send the readers back here, where they can find links to everyone's stuff, or have the second poster in a pairing link their opponent (followed by the opponent linking the newer post in their own piece once that information is provided).
I love that St. Patrick's Day, the smallest of the holidays that this writing comp. thing has been done for, has inspired all of these little issues.

Okay, I've made my self-decision - I'm closing off the U2 contest and anything above my note in my post pertaining to it as such should not be counted in the final tally. in past comps like this I think uberboard has been fair game for drumming up hits/reviews as long as reviews are not solicited. As far as the contest is concerned I'm not really sure. I'd like to hear others chime in with thier opinions. On the one hand it could work in his favor on the other he may end up getting ratings/reviews he DOESN'T want, it's a gamble. Circe should definitely have a voice on this and Thorns go ahead and chime in too.

Okay, I'll chime in.
Only reason I linked to the Uberboard was so my round 2 entry wouldn't get lost in the shuffle behind everyone else's since I posted so early in the week (I thought the deadline was yesterday). As was pointed out, it wasn't explicitly forbidden from use, otherwise I wouldn't have used it. I guess this'll teach me not to post two days earlier than everyone else. :p
As far as the whole "U2 contest" thing - I really hadn't thought of it from the aspect of unfair weight in terms of number of reviews. Nevertheless, that's my mistake, so if you want to throw out any reviews/ratings in specific response to the contest, go ahead. Seeing as I've had a grand total of ONE review pertaining to it, though, it really won't impact my rating that much. I've never seemed to have had much luck with the Uberboard anyway, so I guess this is a lesson well learned.
Or, if y'all like, I can whip up a different entry today and throw out my U2 post.

I agree. It is in poor taste. And the "Guess the songs" thing is kind of dodgy. I mean how many people can really guess all 30? So they will be doing multiple replies to one post.

I happen to think that although the uberboard linking is in poor taste, it is equally open to all participants, so unless the rules say you can't, you can. But it is in poor taste
As to a contest in a post - that shouldn't be allowed. It will mess with the hits/ratings..and as such the post itself won't be rated fairly against its competitor.
Maybe Thorns could repost without the "Prizes for the contest" portion..
but as I'm not up against it, I'll live with whatever happens

Is it cool for any of us to provide links to our submissions on the Uberboard? I noticed that Thorno's post has a link up top of the page every so often, with a call to 'take the U2 challenge.'
Is that fair to a set of competitors if one chooses to throw it up on the board and the other doesn't?
Similarly, is it fair to present a contest within a submission like this? Will some people merely review it just to throw in their $0.02 as to what all of the titles in the post are? I know it can go both ways...some people could review it just because of the contest and not rate it fairly, which would fuck up the overall rating. But it can sure help increase the # of reviews and/or hits, if it comes down to either of those as a deciding factor.
I'm merely looking at this from an "it's the principle of the thing" standpoint. I'm not looking to hamstring Thorns, or anyone else that may choose to go this route. Just curious what the rest of the pool has to say about this.

I'm not nesecarily opposed to that except that the threesome is disadvantadged (god i wish i could spell) compared to the twosome. I think more appropriate than a threesome there would be to bring back someone from round two, say the highest rated loser. I am open to suggestions here. We had to put the bye in because of the number of rounds we could afford without making this another rush job.
