I heard yesterday that Isaac Hayes will no longer be voicing the South Park character Chef.
Apparently he was offended by the recent episode that had Tom Cruise, a famous Scientologist hiding in a closet. Being a Scientologist himself, Hayes was upset by the way the writers protrayed his religion.
Now, being a big SP fan, I own and have seen every episode of the series at least once. Having this knowledge of the show forces me to ask one question...
Why is he bitching now?
It seems that in Mr. Hayes' eyes, making fun/satire of a religion is OK with him as long as it isn't HIS religion. This quote was taken from SP's website:
"This has nothing to do with intolerance and bigotry and everything to do with the fact that Isaac Hayes is a Scientologist and that we recently featured Scientology in an episode of 'South Park.' In ten years and over 150 episodes of 'South Park,' Isaac never had a problem with the show making fun of Christians, Muslims, Mormons and Jews. He got a sudden case of religious sensitivity when it was his religion featured on the show. To bring the civil rights struggle into this is just a non-sequiter. Of course we will release Isaac from his contract and we wish him well."
What a hypocrite.
I hope they kill him off in a spectacular show of intolerance. Maybe he'll get lynched or something.

I just can't believe that Isaac Hayes is a scientologist. That's too fucking weird. It's like finding out that Alanis Morrisette is in the Klan or something - it doesn't make sense.

I can't remember what the exact quote was, but he said something about how there is a difference between satire and breeding intolerance.

I'm not a huge SP fan, but this is shit.
They insult absolutely everything on that show. Matt and Trey actually covered this in multiple interviews explaining that if they ever failed to make fun of EVERY demographic, race, religion etc THAT'S when the show would be racist, guilty of bigotry, insensitive, etc.
