I just paid to upgrade my McAfee antivirus/firewall and can't use my VPN to log on to work. I went to their support site. They don't support VPN and their solution is to uninstall the firewall, uninstall Cisco, and then reinstall Cisco - which leaves me without a firewall. I guess next time I purchase from a trusted company I'll do a little more research. They say I can participate in a beta program. OOOOHHH - not. If there is anyone out there with McAfee V7 who has had a similar issue and was able to find a workaround I'd appreciate some help/advice.

I dont have any virus protection and I havent had a virus in 5 years. I just do the same as hidden, just dont open things that look dodgy. I need some though because I think I have just been lucky. Im gonna by a pc mag and get 6 months norton protection for free!

Switch to Norton with autoprotect and auto updates, thats what i use now. I'm surpised Hidden hasn't had a virus in 8 years too, you can get viruses from anyone, I downloaded from only people and websites that I trusted, even with Norton, and my virus thing popped up one day when i was downloading something from my cousin, so it just goes to show anyone can have a virus without knowing it, so go to Norton.
Hopefully Hidden, you won't get a virus.

I had a friend that messed up his computer. He went to get it checked and everything. In four years he had over 600 viruses on it.

I disagree hidden. Having no virus scanner with auto protect is a bad decision. Your suggestion about the pics with viruses in them is ok, but there are many that look like regular pics with regular extensions. I'm VERY suprised that you've never had a virus in 8 years...

here's a solution- don't use a virus scanner at all. i've never used one, and i've never had a virus in 8 years. just don't be stupid and click on shit like "JLO_NUDE.jpg.vbs" in emails, and don't download shit unless you know exactly what you're downloading. disable ActiveX controls and only go to websites you trust to keep their systems clean. no system is immune, but rest assured, people that are real nerdy like me and bart and gonna do our best to keep our webservers clean.

McAfee sucks eggs. I switched to Symantec's Norton-nothing but smooth sailing here. I don't have to log onto a VPN or nothing, but it works well for me.
