She runs.
The clicking of her knee-high boots on the tile floor echoes from bare stone walls. Her path follows dimly lit exit signs, though she pays them no attention. She knows the way out.
She's pacing herself, knowing her stamina will be invaluable soon. Their eyes pursue her.
Her mind keeps racing through the endless lies. The young woman had uncovered her bosses' conspiracy, unwittingly directing her own coworkers against her. Her employers want to ensure her silence forever, but many will die before her, just as over fifty had this night.
The rapid footsteps of more assailants resonate from the corner ahead.
She takes a deep breath.
Three young, fit delivery men scream as they dash toward her, brainwashed through countless hours of television programming transmitted by her former employer. Hands reach desperately to seize her throat. Two well-placed kicks bring release to the first two men. The third snatches the hem of her dress from behind, seeking a better grip on her. With the art of a veteran warrior, she spins to grab his neck and twists. She stands over them, saddened by the death of these mindless innocents but feeling no remorse for their slaying. Too much television really did rot their brains.
Flinging open the metal doors at the far end of the hall, she meets a thousand pairs of unblinking eyes glowing in the soft moonlight. The scale of this coup may be even larger than her first suspicion. She takes off her black leather jacket. She can't be late.
With a recently manicured hand, she breaks the glass in the wall nearby and grabs the red axe inside. This is a case of emergency.
Her first swing removes the first Cable TV zombie's menacing glare from his face. In seconds, the young assassin is engulfed in a sea of arms. With increasing momentum, the axe head cleaves necks and legs indiscriminately. She moves forward as fast as one can butcher a path through an ocean of men with your death in their minds. The sun embarks on its morning search for her, just peeking over the skyscrapers behind her. Experience tells her she will have time to spare, but the adrenaline pushes her harder. Abruptly, a new, strangely familiar sound floods her world.
"Good Morning out there, you're listening to the King of Pop, stay tuned for the traffic report."
Reality comes crashing to a halt as Caroline jerks awake in bed.
While collecting her thoughts, she glances through her bedroom window. The sunlight flows over the same stunning landscape, no different from the day before. A tear of relief rolls down her smooth cheek.
She thinks, "No more late night snacks."
As she strolls to the kitchen for a yogurt, her joints ache, demanding more rest. She can't believe how tired she is.
She catches a glimpse of her bloodstained clothes in a somber pile by the front door. The chain latch remains locked from the inside.
Reaching for a carving knife and pulling her housecoat closer to her chest, Caroline edges forward to find whoever ruined her favorite dress.

Hell no. Just because a new user gets a rating AND A FUCKING COMMENT from Bart is no reason for me to be jealous/annoyed.

I looked it up to see what you meant, had no idea that shit existed. To me, the line sounds lyrical, or did.
