Before the pillars touched with history
An act of human error overwhelms
The players, consumed by new artistry
Each bows and bids farewell to mortal realm;
She makes them use another venom vial,
A potent potion, savage as the last,
But though the serpentess is cold and wild
She cannot kill the traces of her past;
The roll of carpet heavy in her mind
She watches, remembers, then casts the thought
To ancient sand below her as entwined
By gilded asp her wrist and shroud are caught.
The water wells but dares not break the eye:
Impossible for goddesses to cry.
