Because there's very little to do when you're eating breakfast at a nearly empty university cafe at 7:30 in the morning, I usually sit myself down in front of the television and watch whatever drivel is on Teletoon. That or Saved By the Bell, which is quite possibly the worst "it" show ever conceived. Either way, I usually end up watching about 45 minutes of television each morning, and today's lineup (including commercials) made me want to slit my wrists to EMO music with despair for the human race.
Which brings me to my first point. Some show called Carl^2 (carl squared) is about a dude who clones himself. Hilarity does not ensue, I can tell you. but did you know that EMO kids actually have a fucking place in society on this show? In today's episode they showed up to some tree protest all "hooray for death and detruction, our hair is a wierd colour, and therefore we are DEPRESSED and INDIVIDUAL." I thought the skull and crossbones was supposed to be the representation of pirates and all things manly! Anyways, EMO kis are now such a perverse and widespread force that cartoonists feel it necessary to include them in any reference to popo culture, curiously contrary to the EMO ideology of being anti-pop.
The next disgusting thing was this commercial for a game I saw. "DreamLife". You can guess where it goes from here. Yes, you play a game where you do the things you are too spineless to do in real life. Change your hair colour without having to pay the 9.99 for hair dye! Oh the insanity! Ask someone out! DO YOU DARE?!1?!oneone. I know people can get pathetically nervous when talking to the opposite sex, but have people really become so gutless that they can only do this in a video game? I'm not saying video games suck...far from it. World of Warcraft owns all sorts of soul, but it's certainly not my life. And it's certainly not a life simulator. If I want to do something, I don't need a television and a console to do it. Fuck...pretty soon they'll have artificial testicles for the men who have forgotten how to use their own.
And finally, I realised that ETS has another 15 posts on the top 10 most heated. yes, mathematically impossible, and puzzling as fuck. How does he manage to provoke so many people? I realise this has nothing to do with television, but I feel that while his posts are generally pretty good, nobody can hog the spotlight that much and still call themself a reasonable person.
And finally I will leave you with my morning thought: Don't stick your hand in a pony's mouth.
