Y Halo Thar folks. It's been awhile and I'm sure you all wonder where I've been.

Actually you're all probably wondering who I am, considering I rarely contribute.

I've been recording some new music in a different genre. I'm traditionaly a bit of a metal head with some folk and funk roots (just try to decipher that mix). Recently I've been playing more funk and thought I should lay down a track to see how it sounds.

Here's where you come in. Again, I am fairly new to the genre and this is the first time I've put together a tune in this style. Wouldn't it be fantastic if there was some way to share my art with the masses and receive appropriate praise/criticisms that will help me grow as a musician? Since there is no forum available that meets the prior criteria, I've decided to unleash it to the wolves of ubersite.

I played all the instruments, including but not limited to a seven string jackson electric, a six string fender squire, a six string accoustic yamaha, a homemade didjeridoo, and a 6 channel drum machine. The primary bass line is sampled from the Nine Inch Nails track 'Only'. The sampled vocals come from an old recording I had of my 2.5 year old daughter. All the editing, compiling, arranging and sampling was done by me through an ancient copy of CoolEdit2000.

Love it, hate it. Either way. I'm looking for some honest opinions to see if this musical path is worth persuing.

Peace, Love and Empathy.

I agree with the misnomer of funk, but I couldn't come up with anything else that would be considered an "acceptable" genre. Like I mentioned in the post, I listen and play a very ecclectic mix of all music and try not to concern myself personally with labels.

Right on, this was kind of cool. Not sure I'd use 'funk' to describe it, but people care about labels too much anyway. Uber doesn't always take too kindly to original music, which makes me sad. Whatever the wolves say, you should keep it up.

Sorry about the huge file size. I ment to compress the file and reduce the quality before I submitted. C'est la vie.
