I was just curious. With all the RIAA bullshit happening, like the story I'm sure a few have read off slashdot this morning, what we think the chances actually are of getting people to boycott thier product? I myself have not purchased a cd in about two years, but that has nothing to do with protesting, it has to do with not liking new music, and having all the cd's I want/need and I support the artists by going to thier concerts. Most shit I get now is foriegn anyway and has nothing to do with RIAA. Things like suing college students for making a a search engine makes me cry. I can kinda/almost see going out against things like kazaa, because they are made specificly for sharing media. This engine was to search the schools network for various things. On this logic, I will file suit today, against the company that produces the Ginsu 2000. Didn't they think that someone might possibly use it for murder? They are mass producing murder weapons.
I'm not really trying to start anything, I am just curious..what do we think the chances are that we can get a good chunk of people to turn off thier MTV, and do something more usefull with that 16 bucks than buy a cd?

I recently came across something talking about how the copyright owners and the artists are not always the same (a.k.a. RIAA has rights to the song, the musician doesn't). One of the main points was:
AOL's 30 hours employees get more benifits than Don Henley (front man for a small band called 'The Eagles'). Gave me a nice chuckle

Hmmm. I recieved a bogus file from them. I dont know who downloaded it, but my ass got cussed out. Can that be constrewed as illegal? They purposely allowed malicous content (in a manner of speaking) to be installed on my computer without my perission. Eh, probally not.
RIAA will get theirs. What they fail to realize is that half of the artists they promote suck, and that Foregien music is actually better. What a bunch of asses.

From my own perspective, it won't matter because nearly everything I buy on CD is through indie labels that don't belong to RIAA.
From a realistic perspective, there's no chance in hell there would be any kind of effective boycott
