I don't mean to jump the Israeli made gun, but I have a strong feeling that the "Road Map to Peace," as outlined by President Bush in a speech on June 24, 2002 could now be deemed a complete failure.
Although some might argue that the newly elected Hamas government is a step in the right direction towards peace in the Middle East (http://www.ubersite.com/m/83014), in my humble opinion, recent events prove otherwise.
In the early stages of its position as the controlling party of the Palestinian government this year there was slight indication that Hamas could change its ways as primarily a terrorist organization. Even Time magazine had an article explaining that Hamas would be forced to accept Israel as a legitimate state as international support, most importantly financial, would be withdrawn and would subsequently cripple Hamas and Palestine.
Is it a coincidence that only a day after Iran pledges to supplement Hamas with 50 million dollars in aid (http://www.voanews.com/english/2006-04-16-voa12.cfm) that 9 people are murdered in an Israeli bus station by a suicide bomber? A Hamas spokesman, in an interview with Al-Jazeera television, described the attack as an "act of self-defense" against the Israeli occupation.
At this point I do not see a clear way out of this crisis. Iran is becoming nuclear capable and their maniac leader not only has said that "Israel should be wiped off the map," but also that the holocaust is a perpetuated myth by the Israelis to gain support from European nations. With their financial support for Palestine I sense that a full scale between Israel and other Middle Eastern countries is immanent.
Now that there is no hope for peace, what role will America play?

Hamas started as a charitable organisation providing free medical care etc for the dispossesed palestinian population, these activities still continue. One guy blowing himself up does not make the peace protest a waste of time.

Turn off your television and go to the pub. It will be far more interesting and relevant.
America should conscript every PERSON between the age of 16 and 75 and send them all over there to make sure their interests in the area are maintained.
That would eliminate a whole heap of idiots from the gene pool.

If Hamas really did say that the suicide attack was self defense, I hope they are ready for a very strong Israeli retaliation. If the govt supports terrorism it is no longer terrorism it is an act of war, and Israel would be withing its rights to bomb the palestinians back to the stone ages.
