Ok, so what is so fucking great about 50 Cent, or Wayne Rooney, or Jay-fucking-lo? I'll tell you what. It's the fact that they'rll working class. Yes, this is in fact a reason to celebrate. And when I say working class, I mean the fucking scummers who club a grandmother over the head with a baseball bat for her weekly bag of shopping and her bingo numbers.
Why has this become so celebrated? And it has. 50 cent is given millions of dollars, by some fucking idiot, to mumble about how when he was young and stupid, once upon a time, back in the days, he got shot at, and how he came from a hard neighbourhood. And why did J-lo (incidentally what is this about shortening names...Jennifer Lopez to Jay-lo, or something, Puff Daddy to, well by now it's probably jst P), yeah why did jaylo release a song about being jenny from the block? It's not something to be proud of darling. Just because you were a slag doesn't mean you have to be proud of it. And Wayne Rooney. Bloody amazing footballer, but what a fucking temper! And it's all excused because "he comes from croxteth, it's rough there"

Now don't get me wrong, if someone can make a better hand out of their life than they were dealt then fair fucking play to them, and for an example of this please read the book "Ugly". But what I do have a problem with is this mindless celebration of somebody simply because they were at one time working class and poor, and are no longer.
In fact this isn't even where my main problem lies. My main problem is 'Why is it so fucking wrong, so fucking miserably offensive, to white and middle class?' Can someone please tell me?
And don't say this doesn't go on. Friends of mine pretend to be from the 'ghetto' when, in fact, they went to public school, have professional parents who drive a Volvo, and live in the leafy suburbs? Why? What's so wrong with being middle class?
And I'll tell you why, it's because in this age of reality TV, there are no celebrities who fit the bill. It's just not fucking cool. Children don't want to be the next Churchill or Blair, and who can blame them? No children want to be the next Chantelle, the next Jay-z. And this in itself isn't a problem. The problem is that being white and middle class today leaves you open to discrimination, and you can no longer defend yourself against blacks, or asians, or working class people, because you are then accused of being, yes you fucking guessed it, white and middle class, and this of course, carries overtones of colonialism.
Fuck, no it doesn't. Just because I dislike the 'bling' culture, just because I don't wear Burberry, just because I don't listen to R'n' fucking B, does not mean I'm going to go out and rape and pillage Africa and India...although Iraq would be an acceptable target.
