I will admit I have never been to the US, although I do hope to get there one day. However, I do not believe this will have an impact on what I am about to write, as I believe that as an outside impartial observer I may have a different perspective. Or I may just be arrogant.

As you should know, Hamas recently won the election in Palestine. You may also know that Hamas is regarded as the US government as a terrorist organisation. You may also know that recently both Europe and the US stopped their aid payments to Palestine, followed by Japan. Both Iran and Qatar have given Palestine $50m.

If you do not know that America invaded/liberated/whatever else you want to call it, Iraq, then you have been living under a stone, and quite frankly, you probably haven't even bothered to read this far. If you have, congratulations. The purpose, according to George W, for invading Iraq has changed more times than a prostitutes knickers. However, I think he has finally ended up, defending/justifying his position with, "Iraq no longer has a dictator, it now has a democratically elected government". This in itself is, of course, no bad thing.

The irony of the whole situation is this. America is pouring billions upon billions of dollars into Iraq, whether through aid, reconstruction, or just paying soldiers wages. America is giving billions of dollars of US tax payers money, thats right, your tax dollars, to Iraq to support a government, which I understand, is despised by the people of Iraq as a puppet government.

In complete antithesis to this, America has withdrawn its aid to Palestine, because of the democratically elected government the people have chosen. Surely George Bush should celebrate this.

So you see, the problem with America is, not that it fights wars in other countries, whether wrongfully or rightfully, the problem is that America does not treat everyone fairly.

You're welcome to visit. Stop by anytime, if you can get a visa. There's a lot to see. Talk to a few dozen Americans and you'll soon get the idea that as a whole we don't care much what you or the rest of the world thinks of us, and it doesn't matter if that's good or bad.

As a country, we in the US aren't foolish enough to believe in a world without enemies, human nature being what is so often proven to be. We are aware that as a planet-wide population, we cannot all 'just get along'. Therefore, we have friends and we have enemies in other places in the world. We are demonstrably generous in rewarding our friends and forthright in rebuking our enemies. Sometimes past enemies can become friends, and vice versa. It's not hypocrisy to reevaluate a situation and possibly change one's mind in the light of new information, it's prudence. Britain was once an enemy, and is now a friend. Iraq, once a friend, became an enemy, and may yet become once again a friend.

As every country watches out for its own interests first, America promotes America and American ideals. We strive to succeed and prosper and to show others that this way of life can provide dignity and relative wealth for all. We do it mainly by economic incentive, rather than simply overthrowing the government and subduing the populace (Rome, Britain) or military conquest and occupation (Germany, France). For a good insight into American international economic policy, read "The Traders" section of the "Foundation" series by Isaac Asimov (a Russian immigrant to the US, by the way).

The average American has as much insight into the day-to-day operations of their government as any citizen of any country - effectively none at all. But the average American is aware that, in general, the rest of the world isn't as well fed, clothed, sheltered, safe, and free as they are. There is a basic understanding in the mind of the American that it's acceptable that those who work harder or smarter get more, but there is enough for all.

In America (and several other countries), Habitat for Humanity works to build single family houses for people who are willing to add their effort but would not otherwise be able to afford that comparative luxury. This is not an example of how charitable Americans are. It is an example of what Americans consider 'the basics'.

Stop by America sometime.

I'm actually a college kid from the US east coast, (or probably one of Method's alters.)
I wrote a pointless, yet inflamatory post to cause bickering and hostility here on Ubersite.
I don't really believe in any of this, but I sure know how to push people's buttons.
I will continue to post this kind of nonsense until I get bored or until I die in a beer bonging accident at my frat house.

The problem with America is <ets> that the government lied to us about everything. We went Iraq for oil and the presidents secret agenda that, my newest theory gotten from the Inquirer, roves beyond a shadow of a doubt, was connected to the mole people who dug under the World Trade Centers to make them collapse and provided holograms of planes crashing into them. </ets>

If you sit back and actually think for a moment, you'll realise that all countries try to pull of the insane, criminal shit that america does. The states just doesn't know how to do it with subtlety.

America has gone off the fucking scale in terms of insanity, but we're skipping along merrily right behind. And all the time we spend pointing and jeering at the 'retards across the pond' we're silently stepping into their shoes. I think we'd all benefit from looking at how our actions and opinions directly create the timebomb that we're currently sitting on. Everyone is culpable, and you don't have enough fingers to point at us all.

That said, some of the remarks left here by the american set have been frightening.

Why do we need to treat them fairly? Do they view Israel fairly?

This isn't about democracy, it's about foreign policy.

If in 10 years Iraq decides to elect a terrorist organization into power I'm sure we'll have the same stance...

...unless some whiny liberal is in power. Then we'll just sit around and wait until we get attacked again and, blame Bush.

As an American, I can say "Fuck off!!" Most Americans don't like what's going on, but what are we to do about it? vote for a change? First off, if voting really changed anything, it would be illegal, second, in order to vote for something, it must be put on the ballot. Do you see that happening? I don't. I love the US and think that the only thing wrong is the corrupt assheads in charge. Don't blame a country cause one redneck gets power and runs away with it.

By the way, Who the hell voted for Bush a second time? Retards.

Do you know how many people voted in Iraq'a last election, I am sure some of those people were voting for someone they liked, and believe they will get a govt they can stand behind.

No country treats everybody fairly.

But the reason the US has ended aid to a Hamas lead govt is because they have sworn to wipe Israel off the map, they have refused to even conced that Israel has a right to exist, they have refused to stop using suicide bombers.
