I got to bed at around 4:15 this morning.

It's not that I don't want to sleep, it's just that lying in bed, in the dark, wide-awake is pretty boring.

This isn't a rare thing. To me, it happens on average about 2 to 3 times a week.

I'll usually clean. Scrub floors or do all our ironing. I can't read, which is a pity (Ha ha, while proofreading it sounded like I meant I was illiterate), and I find television doesn't put me to sleep. Sometimes, if it isn't raining or bellow zero, I'll go up onto the roof of our building and watch the rest of the city sleep with a cup of tea in my hands.

I keep wishing that I'll bump into one of my neighbours up there with the same problem as me, just so that I'll have someone to talk to.

Lately I've started playing Studuko. I get them off the internet, and then instead of just printing it out, I'll redraw the grid in my notepad. Sure, the printer is right there on the desk next to the computer, but drawing it out kills a few more minutes and gets me closer to the dawn.

I'll then sit on my living room floor, next to the stereo, and play random songs quietly while filling in Studuko grids. I find that if I can complete one, it's too easy and that if I can't, then it's too hard and results in me flinging the notepad across the room.

I have yet to find one that I can call "just right".

Fuck Studuko.

I made an "I can't sleep and need to get up at 7 in the morning" mix CD. I want to post it, but Bart will probably get sued. So if someone wants it, let me know and I'll sendspace the songs or something:

1. Go to sleep (Radiohead - Hail to the Thief)
2. Dream brother (Jeff Buckley - Grace)
3. Out of time (Blur - Think Tank)
4. Let me sleep (Pearl Jam - Lost Dogs)
5. Shh (Frou Frou - Details)
6. Sleepwalking (Modest Mouse - Building Nothing out of Something)
7. Behold! The Night Mare (The Smashing Pumpkins - Adore)
8. I'm sleeping in a submarine (The Arcade Fire - Self titled EP)
9. Concerning the UFO sighting near Highland, IL (Sufjan Stevens - Illinois)
10. Nightswimming (R.E.M. - Automatic for the People)
11. Lullaby (Tom Waits - Blood Money)

Any non-sarcastic ideas for a title?

Sudoku is the bane of my existence when I'm bored waiting for an oil change and I have nothing but my PDA with me.

Didn't really read the post, (sorry) but +2 for Sufjan Stevens. That man is a fucking genius.

+2 because I've been an insomniac since I was 7. At least twice a week I'm awake for 36-48 hours straight and when I can fall asleep, the longest I'll usually sleep for is 4 hours. It's kind of odd because when I'm really tired, I get hyper and can't sleep at all. I also feel better after two minutes to an hour of sleep than I do a full night of sleep.

There's a natural supplement called melatonin. My roommate says it works well.

Bit of Live in the title, eh?

I reckon you should call it Insomnia: Music To Stay Up For.

Decent playlist, by the way.

On average I get about three or four hours of sleep a night on a good night. Two or three times a week I stay up all night. Poker on TV is good to watch for me, but it's all repeats or retards now.

For someone who does Studuko a lot you'd think that you would know what it is actually called.

Drop the t and stop telling pork pies on the interweb.

You know that movie Seven? There's a scene where Morgan Freemans charachter is trying to go to sleep and in order to phase out the noise of the city he sets a metronome off. He focuses on the ticking sound and goes to sleep peacefully.

I find the same effect can be achieved by focusing on the sound of a small desk fan.

You racist slut

------------------

All words originate from Greek.

Insomnia, is from the Greek word "Insom", meaning shock absorbers and "Nia", the Greek goddess of minivans. Shock absorbers and minivans make a noise. Noise keeps you awake. Like insomnia. Insom. Nia. Insomnia.

Now let me spray some windex on you.

I'll bet you have that movie on special edition DVD George. You probably make all your internet friends watch it when they come over.

You're not alone. although i tend to fill my non-sleeping time with TV and Uber. Uber usually puts me to sleep.

Sudoku is probably the worst ever 'puzzle' that has reached mass appeal. It is simply just a matter of surveying each square. No matter how hard they make it, thats all it is. you write the numbers one to nine in each square then cross off the ones it can't be. Eventuially you will find the starting square which will eliminate a whole bunch of numbers form other squares and then, then it is just a matter of having the patience to survey each fucking square. Mind numbing, and not a challenge at all. Sorry to buret your sudoku bubble.

As for the CD, how about 'Sleep Tight'? or maybe 'Nod Off' or perhaps 'sleepy bo-bos'?
Pff, i'm out.
