Well Round two was less than spectacular.

Anaheim, Carolina and Buffalo all took care of things in 5 or less games. The series to watch was San Jose Edmonton. In which Edmonton won because San Jose couldn't score on their powerplay.

There really weren't too many Highlights but let's see if I can remember
1. Game one Buffalo/Ottawa: 13 goals, 7-6 OT Buff win.
2. Game teo caro/NJ: NJ takes lead with 20 secs left, Caro ties with 2 secs left and wins in OT.
3. Game three Edm/SJ: triple OT edm win.
4. Watch Theo get rocked by the Ducks.

Standings after Round two ( Stanley cup pick in ( ) possible bonus 10 points plus seeding)
*ten made round two picks

1. Hyprspacd 41
2. Darko 39
3. WookieSuave 36 (Edm)
4. Badassmofo 34
5. Caul 31

Ok on to Round 3...
So you keep your points and make new picks
5 points for a win 2 bonus for number of games

Round 3:

This round will be all about goaltending in both series. Miller vs. Ward and Bryzgalov vs. Roloson.

Buffalo vs. Carolina: This series should be lightning fast. Carolina GM Jim Rutherford said Montreal was the toughest team they faced so far because of their speed. Well Buffalo is a better version and faster version on Montreal so watch out. I'm planning to watch every game of this series because I think each game will be over in 2 hours and fifteen minutes. I'm going to give Buffalo the edge, why? Ryan Miller. Buff in 7.

Anaheim vs. Edmonton: Again, I think this will be a great series. Edmonton's PK looked awesome versus the sharks but I Think Neidermeyer is a better quarterback than anything San Jose had to offer. My head says Anaheim my heart says Edmonton. Anaheim in 7.

You have until Friday May 19th At 8:45Est to get your picks in.

I gotta hope for the Canes, that 14 points would be nice.

Not to mention I think the Oil have a better chance against them than they do the Sabers.

It's a shame he has been doing SO well for the Oil. (I've been calling Oil in 5.) He still takes some unwarrented penalties, but he is putting pucks in the net.

I hate him because, as a Blues fan, I got sick and tired of watching the guy fail miserably in the playoffs. He was the captain of the team, and when your leader fails each and every year, what are the fans supposed to expect from the team. He also had a penchant for taking stupid penalties at critical points of important games, and trying to cheap-shot players when things didn't go his way.

The fact that he's playing a more disciplined game and playing to his full abilities in the playoffs now that he ins't with my team is just the ultimate slap in the face.

Just a guess, but because he's a bully. It's easy to hate the bully. Especially in the "old" NHL, a lot of his game was the clutching/grabbing/cross-checking, basically intimidating his opponents. It obscures the fact that he's a remarkable skater for his size, and he's probably the most fit player in the NHL. I'm constantly awestruck by his ability to play 30+ minutes a night in the playoffs and still play at a high level this late in the season. Especially considering this guy was a 19 year old kid with a drinking problem who had trouble skating 20 minutes a night when he was run out of Hartford.

My favorite random fact I heard last night: Brian Burke, the GM of the Ducks, was the guy who drafted Pronger for the Whalers 12(?) years ago.

I agree. It's too early to say who the MVP is right now. Don't forget Drury on Buffalo. We'll see. Right now, Staal has the longest point streak in the playoffs since Pavel Bure in 1994.
-----------------
Vancouver 94 playoff run, I just got tingles.
Bure's 2OT winner vs the flames round one.
Courtnall's Slap shot winner vs Blues.
Ronning, Adams, Linden, Mclean, Brown, Lumme, Murzyn...

3-2 in game seven vs NYR, damn that was a fun year.

That's why they play the games! If you had asked me with 10 minutes to go in the third period last night, I would have predicted Giguere would have been playing by the end of that blow out. I'm definitely excited about tonight's game. I'm going to miss it, but I'm sure it will be exciting!

I was just sayin those 2 becuase the way the Oilers are playin, they look almost unstoppable. I think Buffalo is gonna come out of the East, and Drury is definitely playing like the MVP on that team..I think they are gonna win both at home, and then one more in Carolina..even as a die hard whale fan, i think the sabers are too much.

Peca or Pronger for MVP??

===

Or Roloson? The Ducks took twice as many shots last night but lost. Of course, Barry Melrose had this gem on SportsCenter this morning:

"That was the first shift where Pronger wasn't on the ice with Selanne, and Selanne scored."

Right now I'd probably vote 1. Roloson, 2. Pronger, 3. Peca for the Oilers, but really the whole team is playing their best hockey of the year right now. It's a good time to peak.

In the first 2 periods, there were more fights (2) than goals (1). I figured it was over at 4-0. I stupidly thought it was over at 5-3. Thing is, I don't remember any of those goals (except for the first one) being Bryzgalov's fault!

===

Uhhh...have you watched the Oilers play this postseason? They are blocking more shots than any team in recent memory. These guys are selling out their bodies every second they are on the ice, and Roloson is gobbling up everything they let through. From what I've seen, they have just wanted it more than every team they've played so far.

Regardless of the outcome, both conference finals and the Stanley final should be pretty good.
We haven't had a playoff run like this in Edmonton in FOREVER! I must say though, with all the support that Edmonton gave Calgary two years ago, I'm a little disappointed at the lack of return support we are getting this year. Granted, we're bitter rivals until the end, but it's the last Canadian chance, and besides, even if it's a little North, bringing the cup back to Alberta would feel good wouldn't it?

I missed almost every game in the Western Conference, so I have no idea how good these teams are, but I DO know that Calgary can't score and Colorado sucks, so they have had an easier time of it so far. Edmonton is too good defensively. I don't think Anaheim is as offensively talented as San Jose was, despite Neidermayer.
