He sat at the edge of the bar, letting the heavy bass of the music ricocheted off him. Sipping on a SoCo and lime juice on the rocks while watching the others dance, he reached into his black suit coat to retrieve his Salem Lights. The red glare of the strobe lights cut out as the Paul Oakenfold song morphed into something a bit darker by God Module and blue lasers cut across the ceiling. He smiled.
Only a few feet from him, young people spun and swayed to the pulsating rhythms of the music, a modern tribal ritual of desire and abandon. They allowed themselves to be caught up in the euphoria of the moment, plied by their own reckless sexuality and imbibed with alcoholic liquids along with narcotics. These were truly the "Gamorra People," and he couldn't be more pleased.
Without even realizing it, they made way for the her. She had lost herself to the beat of the song, unaware that he only sat twenty feet away. Tall, but almost painfully thin, she swung her black leather clad hips around while running her hands through her short black hair. Silver tube top sparkling, it gave just enough of an impression of her small breasts to gather many a glances. She didn't bother noticing, but he did. Fortunately, he wasn't the jealous type.
"Well, she's definitely enjoying herself," came a voice off to his left.
He turned to see a young man in black slacks and a pristine white shirt, unbuttoned down to his abdomen. A small gold crucifix hung around his neck and his long pale blond hair hung freely about his delicate face. The clearest blue eyes had a smile behind them that matched the one on his lips.
"Gabriel, what brings you down here?" he asked.
"Even I have to get away from the office every now and again," replied Gabriel.
They both turned to watch his girlfriend dance provocatively with a beautiful black girl, the poor young woman obviously falling in love as moments passed with the delicate, raven-haired seductress. He just took another sip of his drink and shook his head. They had been together for quite some time now, and it never failed when they went out like this.
"She'll never go back home, will she?" mused Gabriel.
"Not until she absolutely has to," he grinned. "What are you drinking, Gabe?"
"Oh, something decadent. Make it Scotch," replied the Archangel.
He placed the order with the bartender and was about to pay when a hand caught his.
"I've got this round, lad," said Maximillian.
The King of the Culling pulled out a credit card and handed it to the man behind the bar and ordered himself a double Greygoose and a Long Island for the striking woman coming up behind him. While Maximillian had on a dusty long coat and that damn cowboy hat, Lucinda had on shimmering outfit of the palest lavender. It accented her curves and made her honey-colored hair stand out in even more golden hues.
"Hello, Edward," said Lucinda standing a few feet from him.
The Kaote, Ed Sands, examined the Majestrix of The Uhmbra. Not long ago, he and Grace had gone to her for help in her dimension and had been denied. That betrayal of friendship still stung deeply, but Ed was willing to look past all that now. Everything had eventually worked out for the best.
Once they all had been friends, some of them lovers. Ed had occasionally shared a bed with Lucinda and Grace was with Vasquez, a Fallen Angel. It had turned out that a massive conspiracy was taking place behind the scenes of the Archguard. The trinity realms of Heaven, Earth and Hell were kept separate by the Astral Plane, otherwise known as The Uhmbra. But the so-called "Realm Of The Mythic" had a dark side, a not often whispered twin known as The Par-Uhmbra. It was a brutal land, populated by nightmares and mistakes of creation, ruled by Lucinda's mad sister Lacuna. Few entities even knew it existed. Ed and Grace did not.
Millenniums ago, a rogue Archangel named Mammon had struck a deal with Lacuna. She had her horde would overthrow Earth and Mammon would conquer Heaven itself. But both had underestimated the omnipotence of The Shinning Above. It had positioned Vasquez to unrightfully Fall from Grace, knowing the disgraced Angel would eventually take his own mortal life. But instead of ending up in Hell, as any suicide would, Vasquez was transported to The Par-Uhmbra where he became a creature unique unto all of creation - a being of Astral Divinity.
When Ed and Grace had finally found there way into The Par-Uhmbra after breaking out of Lucinda's castle, they found that Vasquez had rallied the citizens of the Darker Place into an army. Together, the three old friends had toppled the evil empire of Lacuna and had announced Mammon's plot as he stood before The Doctrine. With their enemies destroyed, The Allfather had asked Vasquez to take his rightful place as the new King of The Par-Uhmbra, with his beloved Wendollyn at his side.
Yes, it had all worked out - but no thanks to Lucinda. Whether in fear of her sister's vengeance or out of a desire to see things stay the same, The Majestrix had not aided in the coup d'etat at all. In fact, no one had even seen or heard from her since the events months ago.
The young Avatar of Chaos was willing to yet things go back to normal.
But...
"Edward, I just wanted you and Grace to know that..." started Lucinda.
"Hey, Majestrix!"
Lucinda turned to catch Grace's fist square in the center of her face. It was a good thing Lucinda was a supernatural entity, thought Ed. Princess Grace Morningstar, Daughter Of Satan and Lilith and Heiress to the Throne Of Hell could really do some damage. The Majestrix collapsed to the dance floor, her head momentarily on fire.
"Now we're cool," said Edward Sand's girlfriend slinking over to him to catch a kiss.

Ok, I realize I'm a bit late to the party, but I just finished reading the whole series. So this +2 is for the whole series, but I would have loved to have actually read about the events that you summed up here. You know, if you want to write about them like a year later.

Wait, wait, wait. Last thing I read about this whole dealy was that Vasquez was in the Par-Uhmbra being assaulted by flying babies with giant wangs. Did I miss a whack of your posts or something?
This was okay. A bit too much summation, made it kind of dry (and lord help anyone that stumbled into this without reading any of the preceding installments).
