I submitted a piece of art work for them, which they accepted, and they asked for more. I'm all about getting as much exposure as possible, so I was all for it. However, even after I sent them more illustrations, my intial piece still hasn't gone up. Now they aren't returning my e-mails. These characters are obviously copyrighted by Marvel Comics, so if not as if THEY can make any profits off the images...
*sigh*
After looking through their database of images, I decided to do something a little different that what most of the other amateur artists were doing. First of all, I picked a group of the least represented characters and then only chose to do the females of the group. On top of that, instead of drawing them in ridiculous costumes, posed suggestively, I drew out each young women in relatively normal attire.
Illyana, Danielle, Raine, Amara and Xian were all part of a group of teenage X-Men back in the 1980's and early '90's. As the grew older, and the title of the comic changed, most of the characters disappeared into other books or where swept away by idiotic writers. The Jubilee illustration was the picture I initially sent the site that they accepted, and although she was not part of the "New Mutants," I decided to keep the trend of redesigning the young women.
So yeah, this post has no real content other than to show off some pics I drew of cute chicks with super powers. See... I don't sleep ALL day...

They are decent by themselves, but put as a group, they all look a tad too similar. Same hips, waist, chest, lips, eyes, nose, and stiff pose. Nice detail work, though, just try to incorporate some variations and insinuated motion.

I really like how the girl here is the top half of jubilee and the bottom half of Magick. Do you even draw these anymore or do you just cut and paste the bodies and faces together?
You got really clever with wolfsbane and magma by flipping their 180 degrees.

Now that I look closer I don't really like the clear lines they have between the hip flexors and abs (that V-shape thing) and then the total lack of definitionon the arms.
You rarely see people with totally ripped up abs and nothing on their arms.

Mirage looks manly because she's working that Native American schnoz. I think that is one of the details that make her look more "realistic" that everyone is talking about (whilst simultaneously ignoring the fact that most American women between the ages of 14 and 80 don't have visible abs).

I like the fact that you've toned them down and made them look more 'mormal'
The bodies and clothing are good but the heads/faces man, you need to work them. There's no life there. That and they all look alike (or rather you only seam to have a couple of faces you can or do draw) Wolfsbane for example looks exactly like the prince you drew for your Tales of New Hell series.

Boo-fucking hoo, you didn't get a +2 and praise for half assed drawings that haven't even made it into a fan art website.
The bodies on all of them are ok, I know it is tougher to draw "average" bodies as opposed to super hero muscles and juggs, and I liked that, well except for the boobs pointing different directions.
But all of their faces are fucked up except Magick, different sized missaligned eyes, mirage fucking looks like sloth, half of them have man jaws which last I checked weren't normaly used to show average women from 17-22.
Was it better than I can do, yes. But it still isn't good, especially from someone who considers themself an artist and went to art school. If anything I was being generous with a zero because I like the New Mutants and used to collect the comic.

If it's one thing that pisses me off about comics it's how all the characthers are abnormaly beautiful. I like what you've done to challenge this Kaos, I like it a lot. I can identify with real looking charachters a hell of a lot more than some ephemeral model in spandex.
