In the area i live and throughout the West, unfortunatly racial discrimination both by Muslims to Westerners and visa versa is growing rapidly. The number of people looking to right wing groups has risen 12 since the year 2000. Unfortunatly events such as 9/11 amd 7/7 portrays that the mixing must stop and be left to live separate lives. Tourism fine, but this is we should not mix - the boundaries of beliefs, traditions, culture is too great and i must say millions of people globally are getting worried. It up to the gov'ts to do something.
This shouldn't be racial against muslims but its actual fact.
Comments such as the black flag of Islam flying over 10 Downing Street or The White House really piss me of, its by no means every muslim saying this - but by one spreading this belief other catch on.

If you really know a lot about Islam and western cultures, you will realize that there are indeed some very hard to reconcile differences. However they are idealogical and ligh social differences which are NOT the ones causing problems in the world today.
The reason there appears to be 'clash' between Islam and the west right now is simply political in nature. There is general paranoia among westerners about OMG TeH EV!L MusLiM TER0RISTS since 9/11 and Fox news, and there is also general ill-will against Western nations among muslims for the years of conflicts in muslim soil which always seems to involve the west.
As a result, any differences in culture are exploded out of proportion by both sides instead of trying to reconcile the differences. Have a look at Canada. Theres tonnes of muslims, even more westerners, and there are no problems. Look at Turkey, tonnes of westerners, even more muslims, and no problems.
So really, though I admit there are SERIOUS, perhaps unreconcilable, differences between islam and the west, those are the kind of differences that people CAN discuss and debate calmly while living together peacefully. They are nothing compared to the much larger political issues. We gotta try to work together to avoid conflicts, and if we lose patience, agree to disagree.

Steveo - what exactly are you saying here? Is this the beginnings of a piece on how cultural differences create friction between groups? And what's your opinion on it really? That we should be separate, or that we should be forced to mix and get over things.
I'd like to see some longer, more verbose posts from you, because at the moment they tend to read like a random bloke in the pub shouting out something before being shushed by his mates.
Have a think about what you want to say, maybe mull it over for a bit before hitting submit. Your posts will be better as a result.
