Authors note: I have masturbated to pornography a bunch of times.
This is a kind of tough subject to broach. On the one hand (my right), I have watched porn and pleasured myself multiple times, and that was just this morning. On the other hand, I am becoming increasingly more bothered by the pop-starification of these dirty, sleazy, HOT starlets.
As far as I know, pornography has been around for a long time, and it will be around for a long time to cum, I hope. But can't we leave it in the shady room with the curtain at your local video store?
Should young teens go to pick up the latest issue of FHM to see what Hollywood starlet is on the cover, hoping it's somebody like Scarlet Johansson, only to see porn diva Tera Patrick striking a pose?
Should she really be in the same league as Christina Aguleira, Britney Spears, J. Lo and other celebrities? The answer is yes, because they are all dirty little whores but the thing with the pop stars is that seeing them scantily clad on magazine covers and videos is that that's as far as it goes. Unless we're lucky enough to have a sex tape they made stolen and put on the web.
Tera Patrick is a porn star. She has had penis' put inside her on film for all to see. Our culture is sinking fast because this is becoming more and more acceptable in the mainstream. From Jenna Jameson being a household name to Tera on the cover of a magazine that isn't behind the counter, we as a culture are becoming more and more diseased.
I saw scenes for Fast Inc. next week and guess who's on it? Tera Patrick. This is a show on Mtv people, a TV channel that millions of young people watch every day. And they will see somebody coined as "adult film star" looking glamorous. And if they research her a little bit, they'll see that she didn't become very succesfull until she got boob implants. Good message to send.
I am not saying I am against porn or porn stars. I just think it should not be so mainstream.

Mbstateside, I guess what I'm saying is that I ALMOST agree with you. Sex is beautiful, and normal, and spiritual, and should never be seen as dirty or 'illegitimate'. And even when you're a kid, it should be taught to you as such, not repressed or shielded.
But porn is not entirely that. Or at least, aspects of most porn that I've seen, run in direct contrast to that. In fact, in much of the demand and appeal for porn, and the subsequent supply by actors/directors/producers, there is an acceptance of this concept of sex as taboo or dirty (or certain types of sex). That's why there's so much money in it. There is a concerted effort to present situations as if "you're not supposed to be seeing this". So in doing this, a lot of the time they resort to sexual situations that are abnormal to the rest of us.

But I do think a lot of the Fetish/Kinky/dom' porn or whatever can be very uswefull in maintaining a healthy and enjoyable sex life particularly in long term relationships where sex can easily become mundain and boring. Too be honest I don't think we disagree too much on this issue. If you look below I have already said that I believe you do have something of a point and that porn is not for kids. I kinda latched on to your sentence "can't we leave it in the shady room with the curtain at your local video store?" and a few comments you made that made me think you see porn as a guilty pleasure. Something which you enjoy but deep down feel is wrong. It's that kind of thinking that I was trying to call you out on. I whole heartedly agree that sex and porn should not be glorified and thrown in kids faces but I whole heartedly disagree that it should be vilified and seen as wrong or shameful or dirty etc........
