I invented a time machine about 40 years ago. With it, I can explore the past and use that information to explore all possible futures.
In the past exist all the things that have happened. They are not gone; they still exist. They are still happening, just in the past rather than the present. With my time machine, I can go back and experience those things happening as if it were the present. This is a great power.
The ability to experience the past gives me insight and perspective. I can guess how people will react to situations because I've seen thousands of similar people reacting to similar situations. I can predict what might happen because I've seen it happen so many times before. I can see that things do not change as much or as quickly as people think they do because people are the engines of change but they generally don't like change. That is why I will keep the details of my invention a secret.
The future expands before me, and I can see the possibilities. They are almost entirely based on what I saw in my review of the past, with the occasional innovation thrown in. Those innovations, those unexpected things, they make the journey through time worth the effort.
These new and unexpected things, as I think about it, seemed to occur with greater frequency back when I began using my time machine to explore. Back then, I'd be presented with an experience or idea or feeling that would be completely new almost daily. Looking forward to finding out what was going to happen, see the next new thing - wonderful. Some things that were new were also not pleasant. I quickly found that if I looked at the past first before jumping into the future, sometimes the bad things in the future could be avoided. This was a great lesson. Despite the occasional disappointment or pain that came with a bad new thing, I loved using the time machine back then; it was exhilarating.
The longer I use my time machine, the more there is in the past from which to draw experience. These days, the new things come along less often but are the sweeter for it. As I look into the future today, I note that there are still many new things to do. They will be my reason for keeping the time machine operating.
Imagine how little these wonderful future possibilities that I can see might mean without the perspective gained by going into the past and learning from whence they are borne. With the use of my time machine, it has become clear to me that I am in charge of my future to whatever extent I choose to be. This was also a great lesson, an important lesson.
A lesson so important, that I will give you the secret to my time machine so you can build your own. It's substance is your memory, and it is powered by the things you do and the choices you make.
I bid you bon voyage.

It was once probably because it was somewhat egocentrical (sp?) and even a little self indulgent. I will however credit you with the way in which it was written, and I respect the fact that you FINALLY wrote something of value. For that, I applaud you.
Would have been a 0, but I have honestly read better.

What's done is done. Choose to remember and learn or choose to forget and remain ignorant, but choose you must. Even in choosing not to decide between learning and ignorance, a choice is made.

I made a time machine out of a kettle, dildo, roll of cling wrap and a packet of jello crystals and it transported me to a very bleak future
