5 days, 3 hours, 5 minutes away. So close, I can taste it. I've preordered, and considered building a costume.
For the past 3 years, people like me have depended on sites like the Leaky Cauldron (http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.com) and Nocturne Alley (http://www.livejournal.com/community/nocturne_alley) for information and amusement respectively.
Have done nothing but lurk HPfGU (http://groups.yahoo.com/hpfgu) and the Harry Potter lexicon (http://www.hp-lexicon.org) for the past month, searching for theories, spoilers, and rumors about Order of the Phoenix.
Am I a horrible person for counting down the days for the launch of a book whose target audience is half my age or so? Or does anybody else here give a rat's ass?

Jesus Christ... it's just a fun book. It's simple, absent minded, mind-candy. It's great to escape from the 'real world' and just sit back and picture yourself casting spells at Hogwarts...

No one should be that into Harry fucking Potter. That is insane. Call me a muggle or whatever the fuck they are called, but if you put such creedence and life altering meaning behind a fanciful tale of a young wizard coming of age you really need to move out of your parents basement and make contact with the real world.

I read a ton of books. Lots of fantasy, and I can say that Harry Potter is good, but it is by no means great. Its mediocre at best. If yu were impressed by these books (and yes i have read them although i think I will skip the new one) then you are easy to please. There are much better books out there.

I agree, Murph. Harry Potter is just a really fun book. Besides the first one, my favorite is also Prisoner of Azkaban. Sirius Black rocks my socks! (I don't think people say "rocks my socks" often enough.)

I read Rawling's first book and loved it. Second one sucked. Third one was almost as good as the first. Fourth one is too long.
I put down the kiddie books and went back to my normal adult reading.
Harry Potter is great fun, though. It's like candy.

1. Somebody else made the countdown, I just refer to it ocasionally. (4 days, 12 hours, 52 minutes! YEAH ROKKKK!!!)
2. I have to go at 8:30 in the morning if I want this book, I work an 8 hour shift that ends after the place closes. Nobody in their right mind is up yet by then, so nobody would see me in my costume anyway. Granted I own the two movies (Mainly because my mother buys them and I inherently steal them to show I have a "softer" side to any girls who are unfortunate enough to be lured into my room) but I sure as hell dont go posting a count down as to when I get to pick up the next Nerd Bible...
Christ if your gonna do a count down then do a count down to something worth while. Like a sequel to Platoon or something good man...

I've just completed the second draft of my young adult sci-fi novel. I sent it out to over 70 agents. I can only hope that someday, people will be counting down to its release and its many sequels.

Yeah...I read all the books. Its a good series, enjoyable for all ages. But for the love of god dont wear a costume. And Don't count down the days. Thats just deployable too.

Dont build a costume for the love of Christ.
I think its funny that when Harry Potter first came out,
they sold alternate covers for the book such as "Business
for the Modern Man" so that older people could read them and not
look like assholes.
